EVERYONE USING DOVECOT PLEASE SIGN: Thanks, Administrators of Dovecot!
With the release of dovecot 2.0, the community of the Dovecot mailling
list, and us at Shelton Computers, would sincerely like to thank the
developers of Dovecot. For, if it were not for you, we would be stuck
with Courier and would not have the impressive features of Sieve, as
opposed to the unmanageable scripts, by end users, of maildrop.
*Our gratitude goes to, but not limited to:*

Fail2ban
I have fail2ban working for EVERYTHING else except dovecot. I have tried
using my own custom regex in conjunction with the regex on the
dovecot.org site. Neither are picked up by fail2ban and I'm trying to
use an imminent attack agaist dovecot, going on now, to my advantage to
see when I get the right regexp. Here are my current ones:
failregex = .*dovecot: (?:pop3-login|imap-login):

DOES NOT PERTAIN TO DOVECOT: Does anyone use postfix for some help?
When mail is sent from the mail server, it shows up as originating from
the MAIN ip address of the server, 173.50.101.11, when the mail server
is bound to 173.50.101.12. I have already set smtp_bind_address:
173.50.101.12 in main.cf and 173.50.101.12:smtp inet - - smtpd in
master.cf. This prevents smtp connects TO any other ip but 173.50.101.12
BUT mail STILL shows up originating from eth1,

Logged out format in log
I was naive to not check the log more thoroughly for changes. I need
"dovecot: imap(jerrale at sheltoncomputers.com): Disconnected: Logged out
bytes=1921/2983" to say the rip (ip address) as 1.2.x did; how do I
accompish such?

This is not a huge problem but our firewall is looking for aborted login

doveadm quota get -u someone@ourdomains.com
With the expire running from mysql, on 2.0.1, we get no errors with:
" doveadm expunge -A mailbox Trash savedbefore 7d"
we have the mail_plugins defined differently for each protocol
({imap=quota,expire,imap_quota} {pop3=quota,expire}
{lda=quota,expire,sieve}).
When trying "doveadm quota get -u someone at ourdomains.com"
the output is: "doveadm(root): Fatal: Unknown

Upgrading from 2.0.1 to 2.0.3
What has changed in 2.0.3 to make dovecot start storing the inbox in a
"com" subdirectory of "user at domain"directory in the inbox folder? I am
guessing I need to add ":INBOX=/home/mail/%d/%n/mail/" to:
mail_location =
maildir:/home/mail/%d/%n/mail:CONTROL=/home/mail/control/%d/%n:INDEX=/home/mail/index/%d/%n
The inbox was never defined as it automatically put

ATTN TIMO: Man pages of "deliver"
The man pages of "man deliver" do not explain the "-n" option which is
confusing a lot of people as to why mailboxes and mail folders aren't
being automatically created; yet, the dovecot wiki's both say to use
"-n" in postfix's master.cf which keeps dovecot's lda from automatically
creating the folders. People are pulling hair over this!

Pigeonhole feature request: automatically copy sieve_global_path (default script) to user's sieve_dir
We have used the great managesieve you have merged together, with
sieve, to create pigeonhole. However, when a user creates a custom
script through a GUI of ours, the default, as we expected, would be
ignored. Maybe you could add a retain_sieve_global=yes|no setting OR be
more complex by having the sieve_global_dir copied to the users
sieve_dir on first managesieve script save, if another
