scoring question
Hi All
I have just realized that if I set a query like
'green jelly bean'
xapian will turn that query into
'green OR jelly OR bean'
This causes documents containing just one of the words to be considered
a 100% hit.
The behavior I would like to see is that each word gives a 33.3% hit, so
that a document containing all 3 words gets placed above a document with
only 1 or 2

AppDB
How does one go about getting a newer version of an application added to the
AppDB in order to provide reports as to what does and does not work with that
version of the application when run via Wine? In particular I'd like to add my
observations regarding v4.31 of Pegasus Mail but it is not one of the listed
versions.

Old Wine, New Wine, and ??
I remember running wine a long while back off a real Win98 installation.
Worked great! And I had all my existing programs (of course, not all of them
would run) and more important, registrations, dll registrations, and other
needed registry entries.
Somewhere along the line, the masters of the vinyards decided to abandone this
mode of operations, probably most rightly so. I agree wine runs

Escape character for --exclude?
Hi--
Ok. I?ve now run into the next thing I can?t find in man, and this time, I
googled as well:
--exclude /afs/\*
I thought you could just say:
--exclude /afs/* or even --exclude /afs/
To exclude the entire afs directory. Can you explain what the purpose of the
\ and * are here?
Thanks again :)
All My Best,
Jeffrey

Samba 3.0 PDC + XP + roaming profile = big, strange mistery of sorts
Please bear with me as this is quite a complicated problem which has
eluded me for days now...
I recently upgraded a Samba 2.2 PDC to Samba 3.0 [3.0.20a as of now].
After upgrading, I had problems with two XP machines, among 16 of them.
One of them didn't validate the domain users correctly. That was
immediately taken care of by having said machine leave and re-join the
domain. Nothing

rsync filter rules ignored by rsnapshot
Hello guys,
sorry for cross-posting, but imho it could be an error in my rsnapshot setup
as well as in my rsync setup. If there is a solution on one of these mailing-lists i will
post it to the other one as well. ok?
here is my question: when running rsnapshot, my exclude filter is being ignored, but i don't see why.
grep -v "#" /etc/rsnapshot-debx40.conf | grep .

No idea why this came to me, and seemingly me alone, but I'm forwarding

That's not really it; however, how do I make it so that asterisk writes
this information right away into a mariadb database instead of into a
file so that I could actually use it?

I have, and vnf.dovecot.pipe doesn't give the error.
sieve_plugins = sieve_imapsieve sieve_extprograms

I am not using filter now though, so I haven't try to track down what the issue is.

Wine 0.9.9 appears to terminate without notification
I use Wine to run Pegasus Mai (PM). I have had very little trouble with this
since Wine changed to Beta status. The exceptions are Wine version 0.9.5 and
now 0.9.9. PM terminates without notification when I send a message by means of
PM when the Wine version is 0.9.9. Fortunately the message that triggers the
termination does get out so all I have to do is restart PM but this is, of
course, a

Couple weeks ago I mailed the list with a perceived problem of
Mongrels hanging. Luis and others were very kind in suggesting
solutions. I suspected my application anyway and went on a quest. I
was using RMagick at the time so felt that should be my first target.

Tracking bandwidth used of individual mountpoints?
Is it possible to somehow meter and log the bandwidth used by
individual mountpoints? I'm using mrtg to monitor the whole server,
but I'd like to know which mountpoints are creating the most traffic
so I can offer better-priced streaming packages to users who really
aren't using all that much bandwidth. And also to be able to charge
more for users who use way much more bandwidth than
