Date Mismatch
I've posted this problems before but have some new information. Suse 9.1, kernel 2.6.5-7.111-smp, reiserfs, SAMBA 3.0.9 (just upgraded to 3.0.20 today), OpenLDAP backend, as a PDC. I've had a series of files get created in user profiles with a mtime of Dec 13, 1901 14:45. 'stat -c %Y' reports -2147483648. When a user attempts to delete these files from their profile and then log

Enabling user accounts
I'm importing an smbpasswdfile to a tdbsam file. I run pdbedit -i smbpasswd -e tdbsam and all the user accounts are successfully imported. The problem is that all of the user accounts that get imported are disabled. The user accounts are not disabled in the smbpasswd file. I could run smbpasswd -e <username> for each user in the smbpasswd file, however smbpasswd requires that you set a

Profiles utility not obtaining SID
For a few years, I've used a homegrown script to migrate local profiles to domain profiles utilizing the profiles utility. After upgrading to Samba 3.0.23c, the profiles utility has changed. The script used to run the profiles utility against the NTUSER.DAT file to obtain the user and group SIDS. Now, however, the utility will only print off TONS of stuff to stderr (of course not the SIDS,

Change time causes profile corruption
Greetings, I have Samba 3.0.9 running on SuSE 9.2, 2.6.5-7.111-smp kernel. SAMBA is a PDC using OpenLDAP as a passdb backend. Workstations are combination w2k SP3, SP4, and Windows XP SP1. The problem I have is with profile syncronization. If a user obtains a file that has a blank modified time, Windows substitutes Jan 13, 2038 for the date. When the user logs out, the file is copied to the

Domain login across subnets
Greetings, My envrionment is Samba 3.0.23d as a PDC, password backend is OpenLDAP 2.3.27, running on SuSE 10.1; workstations are Windows XP SP2, all recent patches applied. All machines are on the same Class B private IP network. Domain logons function perfectly, performance is very nice. For security and performance reasons we are looking at dividing the network into many VLANS, each with

smbd & nmbd segfaulting
Greetings, I have recently installed SuSE 10 on a Dell PowerEdge 1800. Everything is up to date. I downloaded Samba 3.0.22, ran configure (with no options), make, and make install. I created a very skeleton smb.conf to test out the smbd and nmbd daemons. If I run the daemons, I cannot connect to them. If I run smbd --help, I get the following output: Usage: usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd [OPTION...]

Profiles share on BDC
Greetings, I have a Suse 9.3 server running 3.0.9 as a PDC, using OpenLDAP as the passdb and idmap backend. I also have a 3.0.9 server set up as an OpenLDAP slave, but it only serves files. I decided that I'd like to set this other server up to service logins as well. When I add the "domain logons = yes" in this server's smb.conf file, I get some rather strange behavior.
