Sieve & auto_create mail_home
...dices/%2.26Hn/%2.200Hn/%n
My problem is with the autocreation of mail_home. We are using roundcube+sieve plugin and the first time a user tries to use sieve fails with this:
May 9 12:13:52 buzon dovecot: managesieve(a_poor_user at mydomain): Error: sieve-storage: open(/buzones/my_domain/0a/94/javierdemiguel/home_usuario/sieve//tmp/roundcube-1304936032.M335644P23819.mydomain.sieve) failed: No such file or directory
In the second attempt works without problems, the folder "home_usuario" is created after failing the first. How can I fix this?
Regards
Maria

dovecot dimensioning
Hi All, first post here, nice to meet you :)
I've been using dovecot + postfix + clamav + spamassassin for years but always with few users.
Now i must build a server for 1500 users,
they will use various email software (thunderbird, outlook, ..)
the webmail (i'm not sure if squirrelmail or roundcube)
and blackberry devices (with the BIS service).
There will be around 1000 domains

Question about "slow" storage but fast cpus, plenty of ram and dovecot
Hello
We are using dovecot 1.2.x. In our setup we will have 1200
concurrent imap users (maildirs) and we have 2xraid5 sas 15k diks
mounted by iSCSI. The dovecot server (RHEL 5 x64) is
a virtual machine
in our vmware esx cluster. We want to minimize disk I/O, what config
options should we use. We can "exchange" CPU & RAM to minimize disk i/o.
Should we change to dovecot 2.0?

[Dovecot-news] Headsup on feature removal
I fully agree with this:

Question about directory hashing
Hello
I have been reading http://wiki.dovecot.org/MailLocation and
http://wiki.dovecot.org/Variables and I do not fully understand the
directory hashing feature. I want to migrate > 70.000 users from Sun
Messaging to Dovecot using imapsync. I have tested with
mail_location=maildir:/buzones/us.es/%1Hu/%2.1u/%n but I get the
following directory tree:

Question about indexes and maildir/sdbox/mdbox
Hello
We are now running dovecot 2.0.9 with indexes in a ram disk and
maildir storage in a test system. We have the following questions:
- If there is a power outage / kernel crash, we will lose the
content of ramdisk. We have tested that indexes are regenerated when a
user logs in via imap, so e-mail access will be "slower" after a power
outage / kernel crash, but

Questiosn about dbox
Hello
I have read carefully about dbox
(/http://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/dbox/) and I have some questions:
- One of the main advantages (speed wise) of dbox over maildir is
that index files are the only storage for message flags and keywords.
What happens when we want to recover some messages from backup? With
maildir we can rebuild message indexes, but I am not sure about

Great time savings backing a mdbox versus Maildir
Hello
I am writing to this mailing list to thanks Timo for dovecot 2 &
mdbox. We have almost 30.000 active users and our life was sad with
Maildir & backup: 24 hours for a full backup with bacula (zlib enabled
maildirs, 1.4 TB). After switching to mdbox, the backup time is under 12
hours ! Instead of backing 17 millions files, with mdbox our backup is
only of 1 million files,

Problem after migration dovecot 1.2 -> dovecot 2.0
I have migrated from dovecot 1.2 to dovecot 2.0. When I connect via
telnet to 110 port of the dovecot server the client hangs:
telnet 192.168.4.80 110
Trying 192.168.4.80...
/Connected to 192.168.4.80.
Escape character is '^]'./
In syslog I got the following error:
/Jan 12 12:14:44 buzon dovecot: imap-login: Error: auth: connect(login)
in directory / failed: Permission denied
