JavaFX on C7 ?
Hi all! I'm getting: Error: JavaFX runtime components are missing, and are required to run this application for a certain Java app. I'm hoping someone can tell me what bits and pieces I need to install (and maybe where to find them) so I can satisfy that app's appetite without screwing up my system. Thanks in advance! Fr...

zfs list improvements?
To improve the performance of scripts that manipulate zfs snapshots and the zfs snapshot service in perticular there needs to be a way to list all the snapshots for a given object and only the snapshots for that object. There are two RFEs filed that cover this: http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6352014 : ''zfs list'' should have an option to only present direct

Newbie has some questions and thoughts!
...months I've been watching over Linux and OpenGL, CL Programming and have been setting my eyes over which open source project to contribute to. I'm mostly into systems programming and I been out of the game so much that while I'm researching the newest internet technologies like Ajax, JavaFX, typescript.. which language should I brush up on either PHP, Python I got so bombarded to the point that I feel like someone is cursing at me with all these acronyms.. (I went with PHP because its open source and open standard). I've always been interested in Linux since it was a pup when it...

This is a sad day for interoperability in the Web
Today, Adobe Systems Incorporated announced[1] that they will extend their Flash platform to support the proprietary H.264 and HE-AAC formats. The Xiph.Org Foundation has previously contacted Adobe to consider extending Flash to support the Open Media formats Vorbis, Theora, and Speex. Adobe developers replied by stating it would be unwise as it would increase the file size of the Flash Player,

SDXC and the future of ZFS
Wouldn''t it be great if the opensolaris community creates a fs fzfs (for flash zfs) that could be the the filesystem for SDXC cards? Two main point for this are already there Sun is a member of SD Card Association and the code writting smart on a flash should be there as well with stuff of l2arc. I think that could give the opensolaris a more visiblie/ markting in the IT space and would

Best way to duplicate a live Centos 5 server?
I've got a CentOS 5 server that I want to migrate over into a virtualized instance. The problem is I need to minimize downtime so was trying to figure out a way to "live" clone the original. Initially, I thought I could do this via exporting an iSCSI target from the virtual host, create a MD raid 1 array on the C5 server, wait for it to sync, then shutdown the physical server and
