Hi People I have been following the instructions here http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaOnCentOS but trying to modify them for jdk-6u7-linux-amd64.rpm but there doesn't see to be a compatible java-1.6.0-sun-compat-*.rpm. Does one exist ? If not can anyone point me to some documentation on how I can manually set up things so alternatives will work allowing multiple Java versions.

My system is 5.6, with upgrades. I installed Java 6 from the Centos repository. It doesn't seem to have Java 7. I need the development package. How can I install Java 7 development safely? ...ally find it disappointing to find out that OpenJDK is still in use after they install a self-extracting .rpm binary. And this often leads to forum threads like the mentioned one above. Anyway, the proposed article is supposed to deal with this and a few other minor matters (eg. a number of sun-javadb*.rpm files found in the working directory after the installation). We are using MySQL, and love the idea of using zfs for this. We are used to using Direct I/O to bypass file system caching (let the DB do this). Does this exist for zfs? This message posted from opensolaris.org
