/etc/nologin must be world-readable which is not totally clear
...n it is not.
I can file a bug in bugzilla and send a patch if you agree that
it should be fixed. If this behaviour should be preserved, I suggest to
update the man page, it should read "The file must be world-readable" in
that case.
cheers, J.

rsync CLI protocol documentation
...bytes and what I need to expect.
I would like to have some documentation about this protocol for rsync
CLI, is this documented somewhere?
For example I implemented scp support in my app and I found very useful
this blog post:
https://web.archive.org/web/20170215184048/https://blogs.oracle.com/janp/entry/how_the_scp_protocol_works
is there something similar for rsync?
Even some suggestions about the relevant source code to study would be
helpful,
thanks

X.509 certificates and OpenSSH
I understand that recent versions of OpenSSH have support for X.509
certificates, in the sense that OpenSSH clients can extract the
relevant information from such certificates and use it in order to
carry out the usual public key-based authentication.
Having a quick look into the SSH RFCs, it would seem that this is the
only way in which OpenSSH supports X.509-based authentication. That
is, it

Filter files received on scp server
Hey,
So, I would be looking at type A. Forgive me if my understanding of how OpenSSH operates is not reflective of reality. I am assuming that, the file transfer is happening somewhat logically, with a name being known, content written, blah blah.
>From reading scp.c, it appears that, the client end at least knows the file name so I must assume the server end must be given it.
I am hoping to

OpenSSH GSoC Project
Hello,
I apologize if this isn't the right place to post about the Google
Summer of Code; if so, I would appreciate guidance toward the correct
list.
If this is the correct list, I would appreciate answers to the message
below.
Thanks.

Problem with Samba on Solaris 2.6
Hi All
I downloaded the binary package of Samba 2.2.2 on Friday from one of the
Samba mirror sites, I think Belgium, and installed it on a Sun E450
running Solaris 2.6.
Today everything has fallen flat on its face. Unfortunately I am on
holiday this week so not able to deal with the problem directly, but via
telephone calls. Apparently what is happening is that smbd is gobbling
up all the
