CentOS 4 and CentOS 5 DomU on CentOS 5 Dom0: problems with hand-built OS and LVM
I''ve been running any number of CentOS 4 based Xen hosts and guests
using CentOS 4.4, and the Xen RPM''s from www.xensource.com, and various
hand-built OS images using jailtime and my own own OS images.
I like the jailtime approach:
One partition for / on the DomU, /dev/sda1, built as a local file or
local LVM partition
One partiton for swap on the DomU, /dev/sda2, built as a local file
or local LVM partition
The default .cfg from jailtime, and its variants,...

Ubuntu 8.04 DomU image from jailtime.org on CentOS 5.2 Dom0
Hello all,
I am trying to get an Ubuntu 8.04 image running on my CentOS 5.2 Dom0
which so far has only been running CentOS 5.2 DomUs.
The image I am trying to run was fetched from jailtime.org (just so I
didn't have to go through building an image for myself).
The configuration of the DomU is based on what the guys at
jailtime.org provided and its as follows
name = "redgum"
kernel = "/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-92.1.22.el5xen"
memory = "1024"
disk = ['...

Can''t find kernel file
I am pretty new to using solaris''s xvm. I booted my sol dom0 and attempted to create a one of the linux pre-built domU''s. Every time I try to run the xm create command I get an error saying something about it not being able to find the kernel file. Any ideas.

No eth0 in DomU in FC5
...;'file:/root/fedora/fedora1.swap,sda2,w'']
root = "/dev/sda1 ro"
extra = "4"
vif = [ ''bridge=xenbr0'' ]
#nics = 1
i''ve also tried to set alias eth0 xennet in /etc/modprobe.conf in DomU but
to no avail.
I downloaded the fedora1.fc5.img from jailtime.org. I tried the same in FC4
and it worked like a charm. Maybe I''m missing something? - can someone help,
Thx in advance!

Centos 5.1 DomU on Debian Etch Dom0
Hi Centos users
I successfully installed a Centos 5.1 DomU on Debian Etch Dom0. I used
the virtual file systems from Jailtime[0]
How to this manual (without using Jailtime)? I wish to install from
Scratch. Xen-tools/rpmstrap doesn't work for me.
cheers

DomU in it''s own LVM partition fails to boot CentOS 5.2 Dom0/U
...n I do this and try to install via http,
the disk doesn''t show up in the installer, it just shows a "#". This appears
to be expected when using a dedicated partition and the solution seems to be
to copy an image to my partition and go that route. I tried this 2 different
ways: 1: jailtime image 2: copy of my dom0 OS. For the jailtime image using
the supplied config file with my disk substituted:
kernel = "/var/lib/xen/boot/CentOS/CentOS_5_x64_vmlinuz"
name = "guest01"
memory = "1024"
disk = [ ''phy:/dev/VolGroup00/guest01,xvda1,w'', ]

I want to however create a FC4 virtual machine -
I attepmpted to use the image at: http://jailtime.org

VNC for Dom U
Hi,
Could any one please tell me a proper way to access my DomU using VNC.
I saw a thread related to this topic, but that did not seem to have the right thing.
I am using Xen 3.2 (compiled from source) on top of FC8-64bit. I am using a
jailtime.org file system image for FC 64 bit as my Dom U.
Thanks
DM

VNC connection to DomU got black screen
Hi all,
I installed xen-3.3.1 and configured two DomU with 2.6.18.8-xen kernel. Now
the DomU1 and DomU2 could work and the network is ok. But I used the
filesystem image from jailtime, so the X-Window mode can''t work. Thus, I
tried two ways to make the GUI-mode work:
(1) yum install X-Window in Guest OS, and the GUI configuration Wizard shows
up. When done with the configuration, the screen hangs up after reboot. I
can only see the mouse pointer.
(2) rebuild filesystem...

Performance measurement using Xenmon
Hi,
I have installed Xen 3.3.1 with Ubuntu 8.04 as dom0 and fedora9 (from
jailtime.org) as Dom1. I have more instances of the same fedora9 with
separate config files running as other guest domains. But these guest
domains dont have any program / application running. So, xm list shows that
they are in blocked state as no activity is happening. I wrote a shell

using virt-install program
Hello,
I have successfully used the following command line, but I would like
to have some modifications. I would like the virtual disks to show up
as disk paritions, rather than entire disks. 1) is there a way to do
this via the command line, and 2) are there any real performance
differences?
virt-install -n daffy -r256 -f /dev/VolGroup01/root_daff -f /dev/
VolGroup01/swap_daff -f

Error: Device 2049 (vbd) could not be connected. Backend device not found.
Hi,
i have seen a post with the same title, but didn''t
help a lot -it mentioned, that the image was for LVM,
which i don''t think is my case.
I downloaded the debian31 image from
http://jailtime.org. Initially, i had some problems
and changed the configuration file a little. Here it
is now:

memory = 256
name = "debian.3-1"
nics = 1
#dhcp = "dhcp"
disk =
