domain admin
...on NT workstations... What am I missing here ? I also added "@domainadmins" to the "user admins" parameter in smb.conf, but it does not work. Any tips would be really appreciated :) Thanks. Here is an LDIF file export of one of my users and the domainadmins group: dn: uid=ajacoutot, ou=utilisateurs, dc=dioranews,dc=com sambaLMPassword: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx sambaPrimaryGroupSID: S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx-513 displayName: Antoine Jacoutot sambaLogonScript: user.bat objectClass: account objectClass: posixAccount objectClass: sambaSamAccount userPassword::...

need of a user root in ldap ?
Hi ! Is there the need for a root account when using samba-3.0+ldap ? I'm asking this because I cannot add XP workstations to the domain (I made the registry changes), I get an "access denied". Under NT, there's no problem, it does not even ask for a login/password as long as the workstation account is created in samba. With XP, I use a user account who is also part of the

how can I be a domain admin in 3.0RC3 ?
Hi ! I'm using samba-3.0RC3 as a PDC (for testing). I'm using the ldap backend. I created 1 user, 1 computer and some groups. I mapped the unix groups domainadmins to "Domain admins" with my_personnal_sid-512. I added my user to domainadmins. I set "admin users = @domainadmins" in my smb.conf, but I still do not have domain admin rights on workstations :( Any idea

smbldap.c
Hi ! I was just wondering if that piece of code was important (for security and such), because I had to comment it in smbldap.c before compiling samba-3.0; otherwise, I would have errors like: "(Insufficient access)smbldap_open: cannot access LDAP when not root" #ifndef NO_LDAP_SECURITY if (geteuid() != 0) { DEBUG(0, ("smbldap_open: cannot access LDAP

samba+ldap passwd sync
Hi ! I'm in trouble... I'm in the way of building a FreeBSD Samba server with LDAP support. So far, everything works great except password synchronization. It is the only thing I need left to do before my server goes into production, so I'm really looking for help. What I need is to be able to synchronize the Windows passwords with the Unix passwords. All passwords are stored in

Samba3, LDAP and FreeBSD 4.8 : need for NSS ?
...ese accounts) 2. If so, must the passwords match those in the ldap database? 3. which accounts must be in /etc/passwd (i.e., I am assuming all samba users as well as machine accounts, is this accurate?) 4. Any more advise that you can give me, I'd greatly appreciate. firewalling help/audit
Hi ! First of all, I am sorry if this is not the list for that, but I've been learning (a little bit...) a way to implement a freeBSD firewall. So far I came up with a set of rules I would like to show you for commenting. I am sure there're a lot of errors and/or stupid rules (I am not sure the rules order is good for what I need) and I would be really pleased if one could have a look

smbldap_search_suffix: certificate verify failed
Hi :) I'm using samba-3.0 with LDAP as a PDC under FreeBSD-5.1. Note that I compiled samba --with-ldap, not --with-ldapsam. I'm having a strange problem with TLS ldap certificates. If I set the following option in smb.conf: "ldap ssl = start_tls", I get errors like this: $ pdbedit -L Failed to issue the StartTLS instruction: Connect error Connection to LDAP Server failed for
