Hello all,
I want to stream multiple live programs. For that purpose the analog signal of radio program must be digitalized and encoded. I'm using RME HDSP 9652 (with 26 input channels) soundcard for capturing the sound. For encoding I'm using jackified version of ices (ices-kh) and JACK server to connect multiple ices processes to the soundcard. My operating system is Linux Mandrake 10.0 with kernel 2.6. The drivers for soundcard is ALSA 1.0.6. My Hardware is Pentium4 HT 2,8 GHz with 512 MB of RAM. Operating system recognizes two logical CPUs...

If you install the jackified version of ices
(http://mediacast1.com/~karl), you could play the mp3 stream in a
jack-capable player (e.g. alsaplayer command line version?), then set the
output to that to feed into the input of ices.
Or you could try playing the stream with mpg123 -s http://url, and pipe
this into ices, set u...

Archiving live streams broken down by time.
With all of your help, I've got Ices & Icecast producing live streams for
the internet.
Is there a way that I can save an archive file by a time span; for example
we have two radio shows that we want to have daily archives on the website,
one that is from 7:30am to 8:00am and one that is from 3:00pm to 3:30pm. Is
there a way that they could be saved with a different filename each day.

low bandwidth broadcasting using ices2
...I'm setting up a demo for someone of how to use linux to do net radio
broadcasting. The setup I'm thinking of is to use ardour plus jack to mix
two (maybe more) input sources (live audio and recorded
tracks/programmes), then send the mixed audio to ices2 for streaming to
icecast2, using the jackified version of ices2. This is all working OK.
The problem is, I'm trying to set it up to use peercast peer to peer
streaming, so as to cut down the amount of bandwidth that the server
needs. This means every listener needs to have enough bandwidth to relay
at least one stream out as well as in....

library for this application. Perhaps Fons Adriaensen's decoder (I
linked to it above) might be available for conversion into a light
version library with a collection of speaker arrangement presets?
Anything involving fancy layouts and more than 8 speakers is probably
fine going with a jackified decoder.. especially since such systems
will probably want to include things like room correction filters
(http://drc-fir.sourceforge.net/).
I have one other question on my mind: Should this be being solved just
for Vorbis, or is there a clear place to put a more general solution
which will cove...
