Hi guys Can anyone give me any reason why BX should fail - tryig to install FreeBSD 4.7 on an old machine from CDROM. The machine loads a very old version of FreeBSD from hard drive (password long forgotten) so it seems to be running OK - it auto loads X windows - so the nachine seems to be running fine. Ok do not know what is causing this problem and would appreciate some help in tracking down the cause. FreeBSD 4.7 System runs fine for maybe a week and then all networking stops - without warning. I do not know anyway of persuading it to resume networking without rebooting. Does anyone have some useful suggestions on how to diagnose the cause? David

Hi I have a quad processor Compaq Proliant 5500. The output from dmesg seems strange (I have also sent a copy to freebsd-smp to ask about smp issues) and there are also some performance issues which I suspect are smp related.
