Downloaded file is larger than the starting file
...rect answer when I process it but it doesn't appear to be completely corrupt as the processing script runs. I can download the file from Firefox and the size of the downloaded file is correct. I tried starting with the internet2 flag set and it didn't help. The url of the file is:
http://iup.physik.uni-bremen.de:8084/amsredata/asi_daygrid_swath/l1a/n6250/2009/jun/asi-n6250-20090603-v5.hdf . Is this a bug or do I have some configuration problem with my computer?
Thanks,

Or am I violating some kind of assumption about the model?
I really appreciate any advice or thoughts! It seems as if my go-to

Plot: Two newbie questions
Hi!
I would like to
1) Put a title on a page with several plots (aligned witn mfrow=(x,y)).
2) Turn the y axis upside down, ie high values at the bottom, large ones
at the top.
Can you help me with those problems? Thanks!

NIS, Samba
...file/smbpasswd.
(there are about 300 workstations entries, and 1800 users entry).
Is there something I can on the samba side to make the login quicker ?
I don't think it's just a NIS problem, since the authentication of
people
using Linux is fast.
Thanks,

How to put a limit on the number of simultaneous session that a user can open ?

Is it possible to set a limit concerning the number of parallel session
that a domain user can open ?
My goal is to allow only one session per user.
Thanks,

choosing a UPS (in the United States)
I do a bunch of "kindness of strangers" hosting in my basement and my
three kVA apc unit died recently. In looking around, it looked like
Belkin was a reasonable low-end replacement for a few machines. Then I
read this mailing list after I purchased one and was gifted another. It
looks like people don't like Belkin. ;-)
So the question is what's a good UPS for running

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
The build failed at the end:

Package installing
Hi!
I have written a small package that consists just of some *.R source files
and the corresponding documentation (and nothing else). Building the package
using R CMD build works fine and produces a pkg.tar.gz file. But if I try to install
it (R INSTALL pkg), R tries to build a shared library and gcc doesn't find the required
source files (well, there aren't any):

In case a brick hardware has to be replaced is it possible to set this brick "read only" inside gluster ?
Does the brick volume needs to be remountet "read only " ?
Unfortunatly i cannot find anything in the docs about a brick breakdown procedure.
Purpose is to

lustre 1.8.3 upgrade observations
Hello,
1) when compiling the lustre modules for the server the ./configure script behaves a bit odd.
The --enable-server option is silently ignored when the kernel is not 100% patched.
Unfortunatly the build works for the server, but during the mount the error message claims about a missing "lustre" module which is loaded and running.
What is really missing are the ldiskfs et al
