R package RPMs for Fedora
Hi all,
Three months ago, I wrote to Martyn Plummer (to his Warwick email) and
offered my help to maintain and modernize this [1] rather updated
README, but received no response. Does anyone know how to reach him,
or maybe I should contact CRAN directly?

R 4.0.0 rebuild status
Oh, and maybe in this process we could add to all packages the
requirement on R(ABI) = 4 that Tom implemented.

Rebuild against FlexiBLAS
Hi,
R has been built against FlexiBLAS in rawhide [1, 2]. These are the R
packages that need to be rebuilt:
R-ape-0:5.4-2.fc33.x86_64
R-expm-0:0.999.4-7.fc33.x86_64
R-gee-0:4.13.20-4.fc33.x86_64
R-gss-0:2.2.2-3.fc33.x86_64
R-igraph-0:1.2.5-3.fc33.x86_64
R-msm-0:1.6.8-5.fc33.x86_64
R-preprocessCore-0:1.50.0-4.fc33.x86_64
R-qtl-0:1.46.2-4.fc33.x86_64
R-quadprog-0:1.5.8-5.fc33.x86_64

Also, Tom mixed in some version bumps to the rebuild, so we'd have to
check whether those would actually be okay in a released version. I
would also appreciate some review on new (mostly test) dependencies
for these bumps.

Problem with R, staged installation for packages, and samba share
Thanks again, unfortunately it still fails when mounting the drive on a
windows machine (even using nolease) on our end.
We will prepare a fully reproducible example using a virtual machine. This
could take us a day or two.

...eated the same issue with older RPMs. Please also find the configure log attached to this email.
I see no significant differences, so this supports the hypothesis that
the issue is in the mount.

R 4.0 for CentOS 7
...it's even easier. But then I'd
use Fedora as the base image instead, because you'll enjoy binary
installations for most of CRAN via Copr [1]. You even have a docker
image ready to go [2]. (Disclaimer: I'm the maintainer of that
project).

Fast way to call an R function from C++?
...e it can offer still cannot beat R itself. It
is interesting to see that C++ is worse than R in this special case despite
there is a common belief that C++ code is the fast one... Anyway, thanks
again for your suggestions and reference!

What would be a good way to suggest or construct an update?

Changing the BLAS from openblas on a F32 box
...tlas.so.3 R
and then the symbols in libsatlas take precedence over libopenblas. Or
a mix between both alternatives, i.e., setting
LD_PRELOAD=/path/to/some/link R
and then change that link to point to openblas, atlas... Whatever
suits you best.
