error message in simulation
Dear R-users, I am a dentist (so forgive me if my question looks stupid) and came across a problem when I did simulations to compare a few single level and two level regressions. The simulations were interrupted and an error message came out like 'Error in MEestimate(lmeSt, grps) : Singularity in backsolve at level 0, block 1'. My collegue suggested that this might be due to my codes

Parameters setting in functions optimization
Good afternoon everybody, I'm quite new in functions optimization on R and, whereas I've read lot's of function descriptions, I'm not sure of the correct settings for function like "optimx" and "nlminb". I'd like to minimize my parameters and the loglikelihood result of the function. My parameters are a mean distance of dispersion and a proportion of

optimization problems
Dear R users I am trying to use OPTIMX(OPTIM) for nonlinear optimization. There is no error in my code but the results are so weird (see below). When I ran via OPTIM, the results are that Initial values are that theta0 = 0.6 1.6 0.6 1.6 0.7. (In fact true vales are 0.5,1.0,0.8,1.2, 0.6.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- >

My server has 128 GB of RAM. However, R halted ever before it uses the memory. I have been able to load upto 250 CEL files but this time I wanted to test what would happen if I want to normalize 400 chips. Thanks

Error: Gradient function might be wrong ----- in OPTIMX
Dear R users When I use OPTIMX with BFGS, I've got the following error message. ----------------------------------------------------------------- > optimx(par=theta0, fn=obj.fy, gr=gr.fy, method="BFGS") Error: Gradient function might be wrong - check it! ----------------------------------------------------------------- So, I checked and checked my gradient function line by

v2.2.19 release candidate released
Hello, I am trying out 2.2.19.rc1 on a lightly loaded server with no problems so far. The reason I wanted to try 2.2.19.rc1 was to get access to the %{listener} variable in the auth phase so I can modify the SQL password_query according to which unix_listener is being queried. According to the docs, "These variables work only in Dovecot-auth and login_log_format_elements setting". I

data.frame error message
Dear R users, I am using v2.0.1 on Windows 2000. I have read a ".dat" file with several vectors, including 2 factors (2 levels x 3 levels), and a vector of responses, into R. There are no unique row names. When I try plot(x,y) or lm(y~x) the following error is returned: Error in model.frame(formula, rownames,...extranames: variable lengths differ What am I doing wrong? optim seems to be finding a local minimum
Hello! I am trying to create an R optimization routine for a task that's currently being done using Excel (lots of tables, formulas, and Solver). However, otpim seems to be finding a local minimum. Example data, functions, and comparison with the solution found in Excel are below. I am not experienced in optimizations so thanks a lot for your advice! Dimitri ### 2 Inputs:

Problem with different certificates
Hello! Dovecot manages different domains. Today I renewed the certifiactes from letsencrypt and since that time, dovecot does not recognized the certs for different domains anymore: This is part of my config: ssl = yes ssl_cert = < /etc/letsencrypt/live/bitcorner.de/fullchain.pem ssl_key = < /etc/letsencrypt/live/bitcorner.de/privkey.pem local 37.120.166.21 { # instead of IP you can also

[PATCH net-next] net: make ndo_get_stats64 a void function
The network device operation for reading statistics is only called in one place, and it ignores the return value. Having a structure return value is potentially confusing because some future driver could incorrectly assume that the return value was used. Fix all drivers with ndo_get_stats64 to have a void function. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <sthemmin at microsoft.com> ---
