These are a combination of "temp" and "real" files. The user is deleting/moving PDFs, InDesign and image files. I'm presuming hidden files are also getting deleted when the real files are. The filesystem has been solid (XFS) up until the switch to SMB. If the mac assumes it is case sensitive and it is not , it can either delete files or cause file name clashes that throw errors.

One solution is to change the order of your DNS server: your PC's DNS points to AD, and AD forwards queries to your bind server. HI, Just an update on this samba-tool (V4.17.4) ..rename functionality, against a 2008SP2 level AD. (also in case anyone else is mad enough to want to attempt this.) The rename tool, seems to do a fairly good job, However there are a couple of other fields that could do with being flushed/fixed during the rename.
