tracking an error back to a file
...ifying what file has an error? Or is there some
other interface that is either better documented or better supported?
I don''t want to put unstable interfaces in the document if I can
avoid it.
Thanks!

zfs and backup applications
Hi,
I was wondering if there have been any conversations with backup vendors like Veritas or EMC regarding better integration with ZFS. While I understand they can use the "native" mode of reading files from the filesystem, it would be great if there were agents that had options like making a snapshot and storing a "zfs backup" datastream that could be used for zfs restore.

Thanks!

Big JBOD: what would you do?
ZFS fans,
I''m preparing some analyses on RAS for large JBOD systems such as
the Sun Fire X4500 (aka Thumper). Since there are zillions of possible
permutations, I need to limit the analyses to some common or desirable
scenarios. Naturally, I''d like your opinions. I''ve already got a few
scenarios in analysis, and I don''t want to spoil the brain storming, so

Proposal: multiple copies of user data
Here is a proposal for a new ''copies'' property which would allow
different levels of replication for different filesystems.
Your comments are appreciated!

ZFS stores multiple copies of all metadata. This is accomplished by
storing up to three DVAs (Disk Virtual Addresses) in each block pointer.
This feature is known as "Ditto Blocks". When
