flatpak installation package?
Of course... R _is_ open source. However, it is unwise to assume that the volunteers scratching itches for their preferred distros will take on additional work... it is more likely that you will need to take on scratching that new itch.

flatpak installation package?
Is there any chance for a distribution independent flatpak installation package for R ?
See: http://flatpak.org
Background: I recently bought an Acer notebook with endless OS preinstalled
(see: http://endlessos.com). It is Debian based, but uses only flatpak as installation
package format.

Collision between difftime and ggplot2.

Dream Ledger
Hello Fellow Campers,
I''m feeling crazy tonight and thought I''d go ahead and announce my new
little project riding on the Camping framework: Dream Ledger
(http://www.dreamledger.com).
The app was written to scratch a personal itch, which is the simple
fact that I wanted an easy way to record my nightly dreams and sleep
experiences. Think about it as ''dream blogging'', except it''s all
private and for your eyes only. Also, your entries are exportable as
XML, so no one can ever be trapped in the app....

Any compelling reasons to upgrade to 5
...s running great. Everything is
just how I like it. Enhanced desktop search would be nice (but then I
thought Beagle was Mono and thus not included). As would a nicer version
of Gnome.
But I'm just not sure if the jump is big enough to make it worth it.
Anyone know? I'm getting that upgrade itch that comes from back in the
days when I upgraded SuSE, Mandrake, Red Hat, Fedora, etc. every 6 months.
Having a machine running solid for 2 years is weird for me and I'm getting
that itch, but I'm wondering if there isn't any solid reason to bother
with it.

Using Asterisk as Voicemail Server on a dinosaur Meridian System
We have a dinosaur Meridian system (~version 2) with 4 digital lines going
to a Repartee Voicemail server. The Repartee got smoked by lightning two
days ago and I'm itching to get Asterisk installed in its place. PRI is not
an option since the system is so old that it doesn't even support PRI. I
need to figure out how to connect the old Meridian to Asterisk otherwise.
Any advice on getting Asterisk to work in its place is really appreciated.

Quicktime components and FLAC
...hine :-)
But, iTunes does not understand FLAC. My Digitised music collection
(entirely my own, ripped from my cd's, blah, blah, blah) is now mostly
in FLAC (as I slowly go through and convert it will all be in FLAC :-)
So, I have a problem. Or, if you want to look at it another way, I have
an itch. An itch that I intend to scratch.
Looking around, I have seen that a similar itch was scratched
(http://qtcomponents.sourceforge.net/) but this project seems to be
dead. Does anyone here know what is/has happen(ing|ed) (with|to) it?
If I set about writing the quicktime component to play FLAC (an...

[LLVMdev] Compiling glibc with clang/LLVM
...ibc's test suite currently passes, except
for some tests that deal with floating point arithmetic, and some
tests which use very obscure GNU as features which I haven't seen
used outside the glibc test suite.
Hopefully within a month or so everything should be upstreamed, but
if you're itching for something that works now I can try to find some
time to send some WIP patches and instructions.
Thanks,

Dependencies of packages' CHECK....
...Suggests or Imports to be used by
CHECK. In RPM parlance, this turns all of those packages into a
'build requires'.
In other words, to check properly, I need to treat Suggests and
Imports as Depends.
This is a short road to -lots- of installed packages. :) ggplot2,
which was the initial itch I was trying to scratch, 'Depends' only on
R. But if I have to recursively expand according to these 'build
requires', I need 63 packages. And more painfully, I have to leave
CRAN and go grok Bioconductor. Yow.
So: does this seem silly, or is that just The Way It is?

[LLVMdev] windows testing etc
...llvm), but I have not quite been so successful.
Ideas and feedback are useful. However, one systematic problem that
the LLVM community has is that most of the regular contributors are on
unix systems. As you probably know, much open source software works
by having people 'scratch their itch'. You (and many other people on
windows) are very itchy about this, but you're not producing code.
If you have patches to start making specific progress towards your
goal, they would be really welcome. Until then, we'll all admit that
LLVM could work a lot better on windows, an...

Michael
Doesn't the lnt runtest nt --rerun command line option allow you to do this?
If not, what is missing? I don't use this option at the moment, but it would be nice to know if it does scratch your itch or not. Also, we still need to implement that functionality for lnt runtest test-suite.
Thanks,
Kristof

Pointers for developing a proper encryption plugin?
Hi all,
One thing that's always itching when I think about mail-servers, is the storage of e-mail messages in (rather) plain-text.
Meaning, any administrator with sufficient privileges would be able to read messages not meant for them.
Of course, PGP alike solutions exist, but that's not for the masses.
In my opinion I would like...

...curious bother. The machines are different brands with
different raid controllers. Both were partitoned using the "custom
layout" when installed. I'm thinking I must have overlooked a checkbox
or something during the install.
This is not a big deal, not a problem, it's just an itch in my brain.
Thanks for any explanation.

MockCov: Proof of concept
...y the specs. I am aware of RCov and Heckle; they''re great, but
I''d like to demonstrate another perspective of coverage analysis I''ve hacked
up.
The perspective is that of what is mocked and what isn''t, with RCov
execution analysis mixed in for better viewing. My itch was "To what extent
is my code mocked?" -- hence the name MockCov.
It produces a report for each file with stubbed methods and executed lines
highlighted. From that I can easily see what my specs failed to mock and
therefore most probably didn''t specify any kind of behavior for....

re-coding a sizable PHP app in rails
...ment of web application goodies -- email, batch processes, cc
transactions, multi-level authentication, security, content management,
curl-type interaction with other applications, etc. I am obsessed with
the idea of re-doing a year and a half of work in Rails and the more I
learn the worse my itch gets. I feel like I will be able to make much
faster forward progress on features once this is done. The app
consists of 250 PHP files and approximately 75 MySQL tables. Has anyone
done anything like this? Do you have any words of advice for me? I
already used migrations to convert the DB...

Revisited - No fullscreen on FreeNX
This topic came up some time back and I pretty much ignored it, but the "itch" came back to find out why. Searching through the
FreeNX/knx list came up with the reason sessions did not come up full-screen even though the session definition was set to fullscreen.
Apparently there is an oversight in /usr/bin/nxnode, the script is never retrieving the fullscreen flag fr...

[LLVMdev] Status of Elsa->LLVM
...I get a little further
along adding the C++ support.
Since I only have a few weeks invested in this project, I won't feel too
bad if Elsa turns out to be a dead end. Along the way I found LLVM,
which is definitely the way to go.
I'd like to get the Elsa stuff behind me because I'm itching to do an
LLVM code generator for the Altera Nios2. ;-) I started by copying the
MIPS sources and am studying them to get a feel for what's required.

Upgrading from CentOS 5.6 to 6.0

I use to be able to upgrade by doing a 'yum update'. That

Migrating Asterisk
Hello All,
My asterisk installation has now been running for over two months
without a hitch, and I've decided it's time to move things around a bit.
It's currently installed on a 2.7GHz Celeron under RH9 installed on a
10GB "leftover" drive. Thanks to the strange marketing method called
"Mail-In-Rebate", I have a fresh 160GB drive ($50), and I'm itchin...
