About domains in antispam plugin
Hi there, I have the problem that the antispam filter is looking in a different subdirectory (I think is the domain subfolder) than the actuallly used i.e., The following error message is constant: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Aug 12 12:07:58 mail dspam[4540]: Unable to open file for reading: /var/spool/dspam/data/local/itadmin/itadmin.sig/48a1c36c24 9461173910573.sig:

Active Directory Integration Problems
Hello everyone, I have setup Samba 3.0.28a on an Ubuntu 8.04 server. The setup that I am working with is an exact copy (as far as I can tell) if an identical installation that I did on a test box. Kerberos is setup and working properly. I can use kinit to issue tickets. The box has been successfully joined to the Active Directory domain. I can enumerate AD users and groups. I can log

Make new server the "master"
Thank you everyone for your help. I corrected my resolv.conf files as Peter Milesson suggested and then had to take a number of extra steps so now things are looking a little better. In case it helps anyone else in the future, here's what I found (plus I am now having problems resolving internal addresses). As far as I can see, the setup on both servers is identical (except they use their own

Make new server the "master"
To get the question of why new servers, this one I'm using has hardware whose remaining life is measured in days. The elastic bands and sticky tape it is held together with won't hold for much longer. I'm using it to build and test a new environment, but then I need to migrate that onto something with a little more vitality before bringing it into production (in the next 56 hours). As

Changing IP Scope on a Samba DC
I would have added an extra DC.. Move FSMO Removed old server from AD, Cleanup AD. Install new server with new ip's. And Add CNAMEs where needed, Move FSMO back. Remove extra DC. ;-) Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] Namens > Rowland penny via samba > Verzonden: vrijdag 4 september 2020 10:00 >

Samba AD not resolving external names
I have just set up a new AD and am having a little success with it, but DNS resolution is a little slow. I'm looking into why that is and tried an ns lookup for google.com and got the answer SERVFAIL on my AD server. The query was then passed to my next nameserver (google's own dns), which handled the query. Is this correct behaviour? I've not seen SERVFAIL before itadmin at

Samba shares with Windows ACL's
I'm having trouble with my new fileserver, I can't make the shares viewable by windows clients. I had the same problems with the first file server I built and cannot remember what I did to "fix" it. I have gone through the page "Setting up a share using Windows ACL's" on the Samba Wiki ( https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs) but

DFS links do work like this: serverA_msdfsrootYES => serverB_msdfsrootNO But not like this: serverA_msdfsrootYES => serverB_msdfsrootYES Somehow the destination having 'msdfsroot yes' prevents the cifs kernel module from

Make new server the "master"
Apparently I missed a step somewhere! On DC01 /etc/systemd/resolved.conf says [Resolve] #DNS= #FallbackDNS= #Domains= #LLMNR=no #MulticastDNS=no #DNSSEC=no #DNSOverTLS=no #Cache=yes #DNSStubListener=yes #ReadEtcHosts=yes On DC02 it reads [Resolve] DNS=8.8.8.8 FallbackDNS=8.8.4.4 #Domains= #LLMNR=no #MulticastDNS=no DNSSEC=no #DNSOverTLS=no #Cache=yes #DNSStubListener=yes #ReadEtcHosts=yes So

Replication error on newly joined DC
OK. I have been trying to add a DC. I've followed the instructions to build a DC that are on the Samba Wiki, ( https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Samba_DC_to_an_Existing_Active_Directory) bouncing around all the links to install and configure Bind9. I've built it on ubuntu 22.04 Jammy with the addition of the repos from Michael Tokarev. I've started Samba..... and it errors

power users group
I just installed a samba4 dc and I see that Power Users group is missing, is possible to create that group so that a workstation joined in the domain can install software using users belonging to that group and how it can be done? actually simply creating a group with that name doesn't get any privilege to that group users.
