Move data from the zpool (root) to a zfs file system
Hi List, As a ZFS newbie, I foolishly copied my data set to the root zpool file system (a large iSCSI SAN array). Thus: # zpool create -f iscsi c4t19d0 c4t20d0 c4t21d0 c4t22d0 c4t23d0 c4t24d0 # zpool list NAME SIZE USED AVAIL CAP HEALTH ALTROOT iscsi 9.53T 64.5K 5.34T 0% ONLINE - # zfs set mountpoint=/mydisks/iscsi iscsi Then copied alm...

Xen domU''s and iscsi initaitor problems.
Hello, I have been using Xen now for several months and have been quite successful until attempting to utilize iscsi within my domU''s. My research has turned up many posts of people using iscsi with no problems, and I have found no others with the problem I seem to be experiencing. If this has been covered on this list in the past, please accept my humble apologies. Configuration: Currently, I have two...

Ubuntu iSCSI install to COMSTAR zfs volume Howto
I apologize if this has been covered before. I have not seen a blow-by-blow installation guide for Ubuntu onto an iSCSI target. The install guides I have seen assume that you can make a target visible to all, which is a problem if you want multiple iSCSI installations on the same COMSTAR target. During install Ubuntu generates three random initiators and you have to deal with them to get things working correctly....

HVM iSCSI Boot ROM
Microsoft has their "boot" version of their iSCSI software initiator. Apparently this still requires that the network card be iSCSI Boot "enabled." Intel seems to be the only obvious company out there supporting it on their Server adapters - I was wondering if there are any thoughts/plans on implementing iSCSI Boot functionality in the...

iSCSI offload with Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709.
Hello all. We recently purchased HP Proliant DL380 G7 server and also a HP Lefthand P4500 G2 24TB iSCSI box. The server itself has Quad Ethernet based on the BCM5709 Chipset from Broadcom (NetXtreme II). My main question is about iSCSI offload mechanism, as iSCSI itself is pretty new to me but I have gotten a good hold on it tho. I have managed to setup and configured our Lefthand box into our i...

Connect libvirt to iSCSI target
Hi! I'm new to libvirt and face problems connecting to an iSCSI target. What I intend to do is to connect libvirt (I tried virt-manager and virsh) to an iSCSI target and then boot from the LUNs which contain the VMs. I followed the documentation¹ but got stuck at section 12.1.5.4.3. 1) virsh pool-define-as \ --name foo \...

domUs with iSCSI disks... connect in dom0 or domU?
...;'t know if this is something that is a simple matter of opinion or if there are strong reasons to take one route or the other. I have dom0 nodes with dedicated bond interfaces that connect to a storage traffic-only VLAN. Currently I have a few domUs running that have large-ish volumes on the iSCSI SAN, and to present the volumes I''m connecting the dom0s to the storage, then in the domU config I give it the iSCSI volumes as ''phy:/dev/disk/by-path/ip-10.10.10.5-iqn....:volume1'' and so on. I''m wondering if instead it''s considered better to simply ha...

iSCSI best practices
Hey folks, I had some general questions and when reading through the list archives I came across an iSCSI discussion back in February where a couple of individuals were going back and forth about drafting up a "best practices" doc and putting it into a wiki. Did that ever happen? And if so, where is it? Now my questions : We are not using iSCIS yet at work but I see a few places where i...
