max journal size
Hi all, Man page of tune2fs says that max journal size is 102,400 filesystem blocks, which translates to ~100MB with 1kb blocks or ~400MB with 4kb block. I wonder - why this limitation exists? Now that relatively cheap ssd devices exist (gigabyte iRam) that offer up to 4GB of space, it would be extremely useful to use whole capacity of such device for full data journaling. -- Jure Pe?ar http://jure.pecar.org

SAS or SATA HBA with write cache
Anyone know of a SATA and/or SAS HBA with battery backed write cache? Seems like using a full-blown RAID controller and exporting each individual drive back to ZFS as a single LUN is a waste of power and $$$. Looking for any thoughts or ideas. Thanks. -Matt -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

ZFS-Performance: Raid-Z vs. Raid5/6 vs. mirrored
Hi list, as this matter pops up every now and then in posts on this list I just want to clarify that the real performance of RaidZ (in its current implementation) is NOT anything that follows from raidz-style data efficient redundancy or the copy-on-write design used in ZFS. In a M-Way mirrored setup of N disks you get the write performance of the worst disk and a read performance that is

ZFS system requirements
Hi, this says that opensolaris only requires 512MB ram: http://dlc.sun.com/osol/docs/content/IPS/sysreq.html This says 1GB ram and a 64bit processor are recommended: http://www.solarisinternals.com/wiki/index.php/ZFS_Best_Practices_Guide#Memory_and_Swap_Space Am I going to have problems if I run opensolaris and zfs at the minimum requirements? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

TI 6xxx platform performance
I started my project using the CodeComposerStudio speex_C64_test.pjt in speex 1.1.11.1. To build using floating point, I created a new project with the same files and modified ti\config.h to #undef FIXED_POINT. Is there a better way to configure a floating point processor? I have a few TI specific optimizations that could go into the next release. What's the procedure for submitting code?

Supermicro SAS/SATA controllers?
The standard controller that has been recommended in the past is the AOC-SAT2-MV8 - an 8 port with a marvel chipset. There have been several mentions of LSI based controllers on the mailing lists and I''m wondering about them. One obvious difference is that the Marvel contoller is PCI-X and the LSI controllers are PCI-E. Supermicro have several LSI controllers. AOC-USASLP-L8i with the
