CentOS 4.3 (Final) need IPVS
Hello All
Currently on a CentOS 4.3 system with the 2.6.14.3 kernel.
Is there a recommend way to properly recompile the kernel?
I was thinking of dling the source from kernel.org, but I was told that
using SRPMs would be better?
Any suggestions ?
Thank You

Port forwarding from dom0 to bridged domU with IPVS
...ding, using a ultra-classic PREROUTING / FORWARD
rule, was given a TCP RST in the best scenario. We read here stories about
activating NAT / masquerading on the domU to fix (???) this issue, but as
the machine is meant to be hosted, that was not the cleanest approach.
And then we took a look at IPVS
(http://www.linuxvirtualserver.org/software/ipvs.html), an opensource
Linux kernel module initially meant to act as a loadbalancer. We thought
that providing a unique real server (the domU) to the VIP would do the
trick... and it did ! Here''s a quick example of a working configuration...

ipvs and destination hashing...
Hi,
just in case some ipvs knowledgable people read this...
I tried to find some info on ipvs destination hashing on the net but did
not find anything...
Right now we have a basic direct routing round-robin keepalived configuration:
abc.example.com (a.b.c.d) => LVS ( round-robin ) => server_[1..n] with
IP[1..n].

XEN 3.1: critical bug: vif init failure after creating 15-17 VMs (XENBUS: Timeout connecting to device: device/vif)
We have found a critical problem with the XEN 3.1 release (for those who are running 15-20 VMs on a single server). We are using the official XEN 3.1 release on a rackable server (Dual-Core AMD Opteron, 8GB RAM).
The problem we are seeing is that intermittently vifs fail to work properly in VMs after we create around 15-17 VMs on our server (all running at the same time, created one by

IPVS support in current kernel
Is the IP Virtual Server available by default in the stock
2.6.18-128.1.14.el5? Or shall I compile my own kernel? I did check
"config-2.6.18-128.1.14.el5" yet I am not that sure! :)
Usually how long does it take to compile the kernel on a modern machine? I
am using CentOS 5.3 32 bit

Best way to calculate concurrent users?

In my envoriment now, most people are using the webmail interface, and it
just conect and disconct pretty quickly so i can not get it with "doveadm

doveadm who only gets the ones that are connect with clients.
O use ipvs to balance betwaeen 2 servers does anyone have an ideia ?
With ipvs i get this results:

Replacement for Linux-HA (heartbeat) - RedHat cluster?
Hello,
I'm beginning to give up on making Linux-HA's heartbeat work for my
environment (CentOS x86_64) and am wondering what other option have I got to
help me:
1. Use IPVS to maintain a cluster of virtual servers, either master/slave or
load-balanced.
2. Use DRBD in master/slave fashion to keep a home-grown application
highly-available.
The first thing I stumbled upon is RedHat Cluster Suite (

FW: 2.6.17.1 compile error with a netfilter module
Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it? I know it looks
like a file named lockhelp.h is missing. What can I do to fix it?
I tried to put in some POM patches from patch-o-matic-ng-20060624.
Could this have been my problem?

Linux Virtual Server and EXT3
We are looking to set up a cluster of machines using LVS and running
EXT3 on each machine. Does anyone have any feedback on doing this? Any
known gotchas?
The stable version of IPVS kernel module is for 2.4.12.
The latest stable kernel in 2.4.16
The latest patch for ext3 is for 2.4.14 or 2.4.17pre2.
Any suggestions on what combo to try?
Thanks,
Charlie

Routing for multiple uplinks/providers problem.
Been running this for quite a while and noticed that have intermittent
problems getting out.
Find that if I ping the same site from 2 computers it may work on one
and fail on the other.
Also was surprised that some time they are going out different
interfaces at the same time.
Seems to work all the time from the firewall.
