ipt_account is not part of netfilter/iptables and was never distributed with the
mainline kernel. It's a contributed extension. I've reassigned it to intra2net.

tc actions and accounting
Hi,
I''d like to account the data going out to an interface after shaping
and policing. At the moment, I''m using ipt_ACCOUNT for per-IP
accounting, but it counts packets regardless if they are dropped or
not. Using tc counters directly would force me to install one tc rule
per IP which I''d rather avoid.
My idea was to use tc actions with ipt_ACCOUNT, but I have no idea
what will be counted and how to specify an...

New HTB-derived qdisc for accounting?

uploads more than x GB/day. So far, I give them unlimited bandwidth
until they have more than y GB (y<x) upload. After that, I use the
u32 filter to associate the affected IP address with a HTB class
limited to the rate (remainingtraffic/remainingtime).
Since the accounting is done with ipt_ACCOUNT right now and the
netfilter framework obviously can''t know whether a packet was
dropped because the queue was full, dropped packets are counted as
traffic, but that is somewhat unfair.
Can I do the accounting with the traffic control framework in the
kernel instead of using ipt_ACCOUNT? G...

throtling bandwidth
Hi,
My branch office as got a 256Kbps b/w from their service provider at a
very very high rate per Mb. They don''t require 256Kbps at all but the
ISP does not offer anything low. Can we restrict the bandwith to say
64Kbps nothing fancy? How do I go about it?
With warm regards,
-Payal

Suggestions for a new shaper
Guys
Reading through my lartc mail, and thinking on how to tackle my next
shaping solution, gave me an idea. I''d like to propose this idea for
scrutiny and if it sounds viable I''ll definitely need to start
developing in due time.
For me in my day to day work with developing network application
specifically geared for middle-tier ISP''s, and reading on other

Hardware Configuration Ideas
Hey guys,
I am planning to buy some components for a Linux router that will handle the
Internet access of 200 computers (includes tc shaping) and some inter
sub-network routing (at least 100MBps per eth - and there are 3 eth cards).
I was thinking of a:
Pentium 4 - 3GHz
256 or 512MB RAM
Network Cards.
Now - I wonder what is more important: the processor speed or the amount of
RAM.
And can you

wanted A tool to measure bandwidth....
Hello Everybody,
I have configured a Linux box that does traffic shaping. Its working wonderfully fine, just as expected...Now i want to measure the bandwidth consumed by each of my hosts....But I dont want SNMP to run on all the hosts[as required by MRTG]
I used iptraf on my linux box, but it only measures the bandwidth on interface basis only....
I tried installing traffic-vis, its not working
