problems running a vol over IPoIB, and qemu off it?
hi people I wonder if anybody experience any problems with vols in replica mode that run across IPoIB links and libvirt stores qcow image on such a volume? I wonder if maybe devel could confirm it should just work, and then hardware/Infiniband I should blame. I have a direct IPoIB link between two hosts, gluster replica volume, libvirt store disk images there. I start a guest on hostA and I g...

tips/nest practices for gluster rdma?
...=rdma, still seems to go over tcp? A little more info about the setup: we've got 10 storage nodes/bricks, each of which has a single 1GB NIC and a FRD IB port. Likewise for the test clients. Now, the 1GB nic is for management only, and we have all of the systems on this fabric configured with IPoIB, so there is eth0, and ib0 on each node. All storage nodes are peer'd using the ib0 interface, ie: gluster peer probe storage_node01-ib etc thats all well and good. Volume was created: gluster volume create holyscratch transport rdma, tcp holyscratch01-ib:/holyscratch01/brick for i in `seq...

temp fix: Simultaneous reads and writes from specific apps to IPoIB volume seem to conflict and kill performance.
The problem described in the subject appears NOT to be the case. It's not that simultaneous reads and writes dramatically decrease perf, but that the type of /writes/ being done by this app (bedtools) kills performance. If this was a self-writ app or an infrequently used one, I wouldn't bother writing this up, but bedtools is a fairly popular genomics app and since many installations use

XCP & InfiniBand
I am running XCP 0.5. I have an InfiniBand network in place that I would like to use to connect to my NFS server for VM image storage. Has anybody tried getting IB to work with XCP? Is there a document that outlines the steps for getting IB to work with XCP? Also, I don''t need to expose the IB network to any of the domU. I only want to use the IB network to connecting to NFS based

Infiniband performance issues answered?
In IRC today, someone who was hitting that same IB performance ceiling that occasionally gets reported had this to say [11:50] <nissim> first, I ran fedora which is not supported by Mellanox OFED distro [11:50] <nissim> so I moved to CentOS 6.3 [11:51] <nissim> next I removed all distibution related infiniband rpms and build the latest OFED package [11:52] <nissim>

How Fatal? "Server and Client lk-version numbers are not same, reopening the fds"
Despite Joe Landman's sage advice to the contrary, I'm trying to convince an IPoIB volume to service requests from a GbE client via some /etc/hosts manipulation. (This may or may not be related to the automount problems we're having as well.) This has worked (and continues to work) well on another cluster with a slightly older version of gluster - the 3.3.0qa42 version on bo...

CTDB + InfiniBand Public IP Addresses
Hi, I'm trying to set up a small CTDB cluster running in an IPoIB InfiniBand network. When I try to start up a cluster with a set of public IP addresses, the public addresses do not come online. So, I removed the public address configuration and started a single node up by hand, then tried to add a public address as follows: [root at gp-1-0 ctdb]# ctdb ip Publ...

lnet infiniband config
...I twist the modprobe-config (ip2nets="o2ib", network="o2ib", network="o2ib(ib0), etc.) This is true as long as I have ib0 configured with the IP 192.168.0.1 Once I unconfigure it, I get, quite expectedly, LNET configure error 100: Network is down So I can either configure ipoib and bring up the network, but using tcp, or I don''t configure ib0 and then cannot start the network -? ;-{} I think I''m rather missing something here. Any clues? Cheers, Thomas

Recommendations for Infiniband with CentOS 6.7
We have a new install of CentOS 6.7 with infiniband support installed. We can see the card in hardware and we can see the mlx4 drivers loaded in the kernel but cannot see the card as an ethernet interface, using ifconfig -a. Can you recommend an install procedure to see this as an ethernet interface? Thanks On 05/25/2016 07:32 AM, Fabian Arrotin wrote: > On 25/05/16 03:08, Pat Haley

using ipoib with xcp
Hello, I have been playing with the XCP for a while now, and must say I''m very exited about the technology. I had no prior experience with Xen so it has taken me a while to understand the concepts, but now I feel most important issues are solved and I''ve purchased some hardware to build my (tiny) cloud on. The box is a Supermicro 1026TT-IBXF, so I have 2 x Ethernet and 1 x

Since this gluster storage was set up specifically for bioinformatics, this is a repeating problem and while some of the issues can be dealt with by trapping and converting output, it would be VERY NICE if we could deal with it at the OS level. Are there source codes for Xen-IB?
Hi, I found a link: http://xenbits.xensource.com/ext/xen-smartio.hg for Xen-IB source codes, but it did''t exist anymore. Are there other ways to get the Xen-IB source codes? Thanks.
