SSH_CLIENT _not_ set when doing a command
Hi, I'm trying to create an dynamic dns system by using the nsupdate (or Net::DNS) trough a non-passphrase protected ssh session. I've keygen'ed an extra key, with no passphrase and using it, i execute a litte script on the server, which updates te DNS records. (something like this: ssh pickup /usr/local/bin/updatedns 10.1.2.3) This al works fine and dandy. I would like to protect

Postfix smtp freezing
Hey all, For the last 8 months I have been running a postfix / mail scanner setup based on Johnny Hughes' excellent tutorial. For the firs 7 months I have had no issues. This past month I have been having instances where the user gets an smtp error while trying to send email. Restarting the postfix service is all it takes to resolve this issue. The problem is that it has begun to occur

What libs req'd to resolve DNS within a chroot jail?
Hi, I've been working at getting a tftp server up an running in a chroot jail, and I have finally succeed getting almost everything working. The server itself works fine, however, it is implemented as a tcpwrapper application (ie: in.tftpd) and I am having trouble getting it to resolve DNS names. I copied my /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny in my chroot/etc folder, however, they

[4.2.14-Debian] Smbd not listening on 192.168.0.x on cold start
...ging any startup script, but by adding the interfaces line to smb.conf Now this one, ( sorry but winfried not attacking you, im attacting nobody ) And yes, that fix was from me to add that line, but not knowing you would hit the other bug. The best ( only good) fix, change the interface names to ipnumbers smb.conf Simple and works always. The problem is, this can be multiple things. If at boot a DNS server does not resolve.. Result samba not starting. If a hosts file is wrongly configured.. Result samba not starting. If the interface errors in up.. Result samba not starting. Now after adding...

( ::1 ) The other defaults are good to start with, then when everything is running correct, only then go optimize the config. And only one thing at a time, or you end up in a mess.. Just a tip. I now added two more servers centos 5.4 x86_64 and gave them machine names all part of the same domain as machine 1. I noticed that incoming emails are being round robined to all three machines. At this time I really just want the one original machine to handle my incoming email... The other two new

BIND issues, server not responding
Hi all, My CentOS 5 nameserver is seemingly unable to be queried by anything but itself (localhost, 127.0.0.1). From any other machine, including the primary which *does* transfer zone files correctly to this machine (which is secondary), requests time out. I've put SELinux into permissive mode, so I don't think that's an issue. /var/named/chroot/etc/named.conf begins thus:
