[PATCH] xen/console: introduce a 'w' debug-key that dumps the console ring
This patch adds a new ''w'' debug-key, chosen from the limited remaining
keys only due to its proximity to ''q'', that dumps the console ring to
configured console devices. It''s useful to for tracking down how an
unresponsive system got into a broken state via serial console.

Debugging (possible) Xen-related hang-issues without the possibility of attaching serial console to capture Xen output
Hey all!
I''m currently in the process of trying to debug a (possibly!)
Xen-related issue (with Kernel 3.2.9-vanilla as Dom0, and Xen 4.1.2
[almost] vanilla, except for a patch for CVE-2012-0029), where a system
freezes without me being able to ascertain a triggering event. The
system console is completely unresponsive in the event of hangs (i.e.,
displays motd and the login prompt,

how to debug random server reboots
Hi all,
One of our CentOS 5.3 randomly reboots, at different times of the day,
and I can't see why it's doing it.
I have looked through the logs, but don't see any thing in there that
shows me why it has rebooted. How can I debug this?
Here's a snipped from the log, around the time of the reboot:

Fedora 18 dom0, no video?
...ed fine, no issues.
Following the guide at
http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Fedora_Host_Installation to enable Xen, as
I''ve done with countless other Fedora boxes, I installed Xen and setup
the bridge. When I booted into Xen, it gets to the part where it
detects my USB keyboard/mouse (Dell 2161DS IPKVM with a single-USB SIP
attachment which carries the keyboard and mouse), then it stops
outputting additional lines, and about 10 seconds later, the video
goes black (but not a loss of signal). I''m going to try to attach a
screenshot of the point at which it stops, hopefully it works throug...

HVM Windows: disk image vs. zvol - which is better?
Hi everyone!
I''m planning to migrate a little firm''s Windows server to a HVM machine.
The test setup woks fine (it''s basically an MSSQL server tied pack of programs for an accountancy office), all programs can reach the mssql from the outside on the hvm windows.
If fact it turned out to be so good, that I''m even planning to simply copy the win image(s) to the
