ip_masq+dhcpd+samba+2nics
...quot;external" lan..I have gotten the OS to see
both of them, but when trying to get DHCP to work with both, it kept
barfing.. so i used ip_aliasing on the external nic and put the "internal"
host address (192.168.2.1) on eth0:1. DHCPD seemed to work.. then i
installed and configured ip_masq. That worked.. Now i installed samba.
the latest. This compiled and setup with no problem, but looking at
network neighborhood, i cant see my server.. Now going thru the archives
i see other people put, the nic cards on the win95 machines to lm announce
to yes and browser master to automatic.. this...

[PATCH] Add a Maximum Idle Time (1.2.2)
...so fixes the timeouts mentioned in last month's thread "Idle
time out". The patch is also available by http from:
http://www.chaos2.org/~jacob/code/patch-openssh-1.2.2-trans_inter
I am ssh-ing from a machine on my home network to one on the
internet. This goes out over a Linux ip_masquerade firewall. When I
wrote the attached patch, I thought it was the firewall that was killing
the connection by timing out on the redirected port due to lack of
traffic. But after reading some similar posts on this list, I think there
might be problems even if a firewall isn't involved. Al...

samba domain issue
:')
I have a small block of addresses allocated by the ISP. In order to
conserve those addresses, I have constructed a Linux box (2.0.33
SuSE 5.1) to do IP_masq. (Works wonderfully. SuSE is the best kept
secret in the Linux community.) Problem is related to Samba. I MUST
be able to relocate NT clients behind my Linux system. I have tried
several different methods of configuration for the Linux system, but
I don't seem to be able to afford my (W...

Thanks, I have got samba working now.
I am not sure what was actually wrong, maybe I did something wrong without
realising it. Anyway, I currently use samba-1.9.18p10-3 rpm from RH5.2.
There seems to be something very w...

Known SIP - NAT Solutions?
I have recently begun experimenting with Asterisk, and have been
mightily impressed by its capabilities and flexibility. I have run
across one problem, however, that challenges my ability to use it as a
production system.
My Asterisk box has a public Internet IP, and works great with SIP
(ATA 186) clients that also have public IP addresses. Unfortunately,
most of the locations that I would

What to do in Windows 95 after configuring Samba
Hello,
I'm new to Samba so sorry for this trivial question. I've configured my
smb.conf with all the shares and enabled WINS support. I wanted to know what
do I have to configure in my windows 95 machine. My LAN setup is - one Linux
Red Hat 6.0 machine Pentium 166 and a windows 95 machine a 486. I've made my
Linux m/c the proxy server using Squid. Also whenever I boot my Win m/c it
