File copy speed differences... writing to SAMBA is faster than reading from it??!
...suspect this is a clue as to why I observe this behaviour. Has anyone else
seen this behaviour? I can't be the first person to have noticed this
disparity in performance, however I see no mention of it in the FAQs or "bug
lists". I must say, that otherwise, samba is nothing but tip-top perfect in
its operation otherwise - I have no real complaints about its operation.

differences)

Problem mapping Samba shares in Windows
Hi,
In our company we are currently running a Samba server and Windows XP clients.
At the moment we are having problems with mapping Samba shares in Windows.
Shares are being mapped through a windows startup script, which executes net use (with the option persistent:no) command.
For most users this works most of the time, nevertheless it often fails, the exect reason for this isn't clear yet.
When this happens, the samba server prompts for username and password on executing the mapping script again (a...

DRbFire / ActiveRecord performances
Hi,
I''m using drbfire to send a "DRbUndumped" ActiveRecord object from the server to the client, through an ADSL line of 4Mbits/s download, and 600Kbits/s upload. I was afraid there would be too many round-trips between the client and the server, and unfortunately this is true:
Server code:

486 works as router and trafic shaper for network made of 12 pc''s. it
does the job quite well, but when i play Counter-Strike or connect to my
486 via ssh (on lan), i get huge lag every 11-20 sec. when i connect to
486 via ssh and run iptraf program i see all the trafic, and after a
while when lag comes the kb/s stats reset. and iptraf shows that there
is only 50% bandwith usage. What could be the problem ?
