I know "everyone" permissions are harmless but still I don't want to see
them. Do you know a way to delete these permissions when you create a samba

[LLVMdev] ARM LNT test-suite Buildbot
Hi Renato,
I've investigated a few of these for AArch64 recently, and some of the
results will be applicable in the 32-bit world too.
> MultiSource/Benchmarks/McCat/12-IOtest/iotest.execution_time
This is because of disagreement between ABIs over whether "char" is
signed. ARM says no, x86 says yes.
> MultiSource/Benchmarks/MiBench/automotive-bitcount/automotive-bitcount.execution_time
This is also failing on x86, I think

SMB throughput inquiry, Jeremy, and James' bow tie
I went to the site to subscribe again and ended up watching some of
Jeremy's Google interviews. I particularly enjoyed the interview with
James and the bow tie lesson at the end. :)
So anyway, I recently upgraded my home network to end-to-end GbE. My
clients are Windows XP SP3 w/hot fixes, and my Samba server is 3.5.6
atop vanilla kernel.org Linux 3.2.6 and Debian 6.0.6.

For my testing, I run my test script on cygwin and
"cd" to my home directory on the server (/h) where my
test "files" (character devices) are located (/h/zero and /h/null)
From there I usually run it with "bin/iotest". I'll attach
the bash script. If you find it of any use, great! else, ignore it.
My linux-box has bash-4.4 on it and is currently using a 4.14.0 kernel.
Good luck...don't want to overwhelm, so I'll end here.

[cross-project PATCH v2] NBD 64-bit extensions
This is a cover letter for a set of multi-project patch series all
designed to implement 64-bit operations in NBD, and demonstrate
interoperability of the new extension between projects.
v1 of the project was attempted nearly a year ago:
https://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2021-12/msg00453.html
Since then, I've addressed a lot of preliminary cleanups in libnbd to

nbdkit build failure in Koji
Hi Eric,
I wonder if you have any thoughts about this build failure in
tests/test-nozero.sh?
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=48259627
log: https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org//work/tasks/9762/48259762/build.log
The error is “nozero6.img was trimmed by mistake”. I added “set -x”
to the script earlier today so we can see exactly what's wrong, and it
is that:

Hmm, maybe it is file-system dependent (not all filesystems reserve the
same amount of space for a sparse file - that's something that qemu
iotests keep on hitting).

What is the maximum speed for download from a samba share
...on
client OR server depending on packet size.
Sent a recent note to the cygwin list (used cygwin in the testing).
My experience was to use the cifs protocol as easiest (over a local
network). With a 10Gb (limited to 8Gb due to running on older
PCIe interface) card, I'm getting:
/h> bin/iotest
Using bs=16.0M, count=64, iosize=1.0G
R:1073741824 bytes (1.0GB) copied, 1.67486 s, 611MB/s
W:1073741824 bytes (1.0GB) copied, 4.01592 s, 255MB/s
....
Also, on a local net, using Jumbo packets also helps
(I have a 9000B MTU on my local net).

What is the maximum speed for download from a samba share
What is the maximum speed for download from a samba share?
I have a 100 kbit/s Internet
The maximum speed for a download from my webserver with samba is about
25.000 kbit/s
The bottleneck is the samba access. Without samba I can download with
100 kbit/s
So the question? is it possible to get more speed or is this the maximum
speed with samba?
I tried a lot of hints for samba tuning but
