mksmbpasswd - permissions
Hallo,
i installed samba V2.0.3 on a linux server in a company. for better
security i will use encypted passwords. for synchronisation of the unix password
file and the samba password file i tried out the script mksmbpasswd script.
my security settings at the server are easy and i set the permissions of the
unix passwd file at 774 and also my smbpasswd file at 744. starting the
script with the

SWAT
I was playing with this on my test machine, (redhat 5.2, samba 2.0.3)
worked great, and I was really impressed.
So I decided to install this on my office machine. (redhat 4.2, samba
2.0.3) and the only significant difference is that on the
office machine, I use encrypted passwords.
I cannot get swat to authenticate on the second machine. That is, no
matter what account, password combination

Sharing
RH5.1 : How can be made a share _browseable_ ONLY by a certain group - something
like Netware shares ?

"include = smb.conf.%U" lost in Samba 2.0.3 ?
Hi all !
Before to upgrate my Samba version (1.9.. - 2.0.3 , RH 2.0.36) every
user connected to the Samba server get a different list of shares, based
on the "include = smb.conf.%U" line in smb.conf/[Global] . I understood
that I can't use %u in "include" parameter, but I've got my work done
with %U until... :(
What should I do to solve this ?

include = %what?
Hi !
Let's assume we want to let users to see only certain shares. A simple
way to do this would be to put a line like this in smb.conf:
include = smb.conf.%u ;from "man smb.conf", include section:
"It takes
;standards substitution, except %u, %S,
%P"
So, another ways can be:
include = smb.conf.%U
or
include = %H/smb.conf

resource sharing
I want to know more about a problem the Samba developers solved it long
time ago. It's about what's going on (in detail) when a NT or W95 user
clicks a network neibourhood computer, in a TCP/IP only network, from
the other's computer point of view.Someone told me to examine the
receiving buffer, but I think that if this is the only solution, someone
before me did that already and maybe

Like Netware share ??
Most of you will probably think about this "It's not a real problem". But not my boss. I want to
exchange our Netware server with a linux/SMABA one but my boss wants to have on the new server
exactly the same directories structure like in the Netware server. And here it is what I couldn't
done : user X wich have two secondary groups Y and Z must browse in Win95 _only_ the Y and
