Voicemail storage in DB
...ach redundant server ... we haven't been able to find an
efficient -yet- cost effective method for this. However, if we can use a
mysql database for voicemail storage then I can set up mysql database
replication and our problem is solved.
Thanks so much for your help!

Beta4 artifact/bug in the bass area
...thought someone was knocking my door :) ) in the .ogg, not in
the original .wav.
In other parts of the song this artifact isn't there, so it must have to
do something with the combination of sounds in that part. The cracks and
pops in this extract are there on purpose and come from that great
ionosphere sample whose URL was posted on vorbis-dev. This artifact
cannot be the ionosphere sample's fault only, because as I said, the
sample was there in the tune already before the part where this bug is
audible. The ionosphere sample is represented pretty good, btw.
I hope that helps. If someone nee...

System Time
A few years ago, one of our interns was curious about system
time keeping features in computer systems.? This intern was
also the proud owner of an inexpensive Radio-Controlled Clock.
The intern wondered why computer motherboards were not just
equipped with a chip like the ones in the RCC so that their
system time would always be correct.
I posted a question about this on the CentOS email list

Newbie question
I have an ATA-186 in a SIP configuration (following Shawn Djernes

Everything works if I remove indications.conf from /etc/asterisk -

Asterisk / SMP / Scalability
I've got Asterisk loading 100,000+ extensions in extensions.conf. This
process is taking a little upwards of 10 minutes to complete on each of my
dual 3.2Ghz HP DL380 with SuSE Linux Enterprise 8 boxes.
Although asterisk creates child processes, it appears that it is only using
a single processor to parse extensions.conf. I've turned off Hyper Threading
on the servers which has increased

Problem with Unavailable Message Creation
I've changed the spool directory in asterisk.conf to point to a different
directory. Everything works/gets created just fine with the exception of the
unavailable messages. When a user tries to create one, I get this on the
console (below).
I changed the directory to /vm in asterisk.conf.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Is there a way to retrieve the Call-ID from a call made using the 'Dial'

Memory Usage in Top and System Monitor
I think I found my problem. I did not realize using /dev/shm as a ramdisk will create swap space. Is there a way to prevent the ramdisk from swapping to disk?

bind: root hints named.ca and named.root
For 6.x I have both of these files in my /var/named directory, probably copied when upgraded. named.ca date inside the file is dated 2008 and named.root is from a few months ago.
Am I correct in assuming that named.ca is old and that I should be using named.root in my named.conf files? Is it SOP to use the latest from ftp://ftp.internic.net/domain/named.root
thx

Local Channel Call Looping
*** If anyone has a better way of doing this, please post to the list. I
hadn't seen anything on this list or in channel.c/chan_local.c - which
prompted this email ***
I'm not sure how many VoIP providers out there are using Asterisk as a
service platform like we do, but I thought I'd share an experience with
call looping that was racking my brain with the list.

Centos 6.5 workaround needed for selinux "Could not open policy file" bug
I read about this bug in the Centos 6.2 faq and the link showing it fixed in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=769859
but I am still getting it updating on a Centos 6.5 server that had selinux disabled. I want to run selinux as permissive but it won't load now on reboot.
I ran the yum update to apply this latest selinux update

Memory Usage in Top and System Monitor
Can someone help clear up some confusion in reading memory usage in Top and System monitor. Here is a picture of both.
http://s1176.photobucket.com/albums/x327/ionosphere2011/
Why does "System Monitor" show 1.7gb free out of 8gb. While Top shows all 8gb being used?
If 1.7gb is free then it should not be using swap space so I assume "System Monitor" is reporting it incorrectly?
Thanks

Re: Sipura and STUN (was: rejected NOTIFY re quests)
Sipura does include STUN as an option. It has for quite some time. We are
using it with all of our Sipuras behind NAT'd gateways and it works great!
Try upgrading to the latest Sipura firmware rev.

6.2 x86_64 "mtrr_cleanup: can not find optimal value"
Hi,
I have server that has been running 5.x - 5.8 for a few years without issue and decided to move it to a fresh install of 6.2. First thing I noticed is a good part of the log has these mtrr messages finally ending with
"mtrr_cleanup: can not find optimal value" and "please specify mtrr_gran_size/mtrr_chunk_size". I have been searching around and reading the kernel docs
