F8 desktop features
...around the corner, I thought it might be a good idea > > to give a little status update on the features that the desktop team has > > been working on for F8: > > what happend to compiz-fusion? I've been punting this issue for a while; sorry about that, I should have been more involed in the debate there. I have two concerns about the proposed updates: 1) I'd rather not ship a git snap shot for fedora 8. If we know that there's a stable release on the horizon, that is, coming out withing the next 1 or 2 months, we can do an update, but if there's no expectation...

vhost-net todo list
Some people asked about getting involved with vhost. Here's a short list of projects. vhost-net driver projects - profiling would be very helpful, I have not done any yet - tap support - working on it now - merged buffers - working on it now - scalability/fairness for large # of guests - working on it now - logging support with d...

Hi, By running some scripts on our target system for a while, I lost all means of access to the system. It seems that the kernel is crashed with the following error message: Assertion failure in do_get_write_access() at transaction.c:731: "(((jh2bh(jh))->b_state & (1UL << BH_Uptodate)) != 0)" Oops: Exception in kernel mode, sig: 4 We are currently running Linux version

Advice request for building a centralized vm disk provider server
...arget path>/disk1.img. I have two problems: 1)how to get an unique <iscsi target path>? On my phisical host it is mounted as a random uuid in the /media folder. 2)will migration work with a <file> instead of a <device> as hard disk field? If you have any better solution, even involing the change from iscsi to another technology, you are free to propose it to me. Sorry for bothering, Pasquale

Xen disk device detach fails as non-root [libvirt-0.8.7 and older versions]
Hi All, I find that I am able to attach a disk device do a Xen domain, using virDomainAttachDevice(), running as a non-root user, but I am unable to use virDomainDetachDevice() - it results in an "unknown failure". Using "virsh [attach|detach]-device" exhibits this behviour. $ virsh attach-device domu1 attach.xml Device attached successfully $ virsh detach-device domu1

mounting an arbitrary directory?
Hi all, Is it possible to specify an arbitrary unix directory to be mounted from samba? For example, to mount /usr/local/bin ? Using a different smb server, I've seen the ability to do this by doing something like Connect to: \\smbserver\/usr/local/bin Connect as: user Password: **** In other words, I'd like to be able to specify the exact path I'd like to mount without having

[LLVMdev] Possibly Vista-related Windows/MinGW Compilation Issues
Hello, Jonathan > I thought I'd messed up something related to the linker, > but I couldn't explain why XP would work using the same steps. The only thing comes to my mind seeing this: perl from msysDTK works differently (somehow) on Vista, thus llvm-config is broken which leads to missed libraries, broken dependencies, etc. I'd suggest you to compare stuff on different

Issue with pxe chainloading and grub2
Hello everyone, I am trying to chainload grub2 using both pxechain.com and pxechn.c32 and in both cases once grub2 loads it fails to find the grub config file on the server. My setup is as follows: 1. DHCP (192.168.1.2) server points to a multi pxe server menu on itself. The entry in the dhcp config file is: *class "installerator-pxeclients" { match if substring (option

Switch to ld.bfd tombstone behavior by default
In short: Perhaps we should switch lld to the bfd-style tombstoning behavior for a release or two, letting users opt-in to testing with the new -1/-2 tombstoning in the interim, before switching to the new tombstone by default (while still having the flag to switch back when users find surprise places that can't handle the new behavior).
