Move existing CentOS 4.5 to Xen DomU on CentOS 5
Is there a procedure/howto to follow when moving from existing HW to virtual machine. I found: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/MoveNative2DomU but it seems little bit complex for me(but not impossible). Is there a tool that does the migration (XenOptimizer should do it???) When searching I find only commercial tools... -----------------------------------------------------------------

First steps towards a simple text stream format.
...ined here wouldn't be 10 years of work. However, a good toolchain to actually use the format would probably take alot of time. If anyone's tried extracting a subtitle stream from a DVD using transcode, subtitle2pgm, gocr, ispell and a couple more tools, you know it isn't exactly inuitive. Hence, it wouldn't hurt to have a (graphical) tool which could convert dvd subtitles into this magic format in a manner which is more intuitive. Anyway, I hope that in the years to come some people will actually create multimedia content with vorbis+theora from the start, so that i...

Samba Posix ACL and classical files permissions
Hi, i'm experiencing a strange behavior in the way samba shows file and folders permissions under windows explorer. When i open the folder or file properties under windows (xp sp2 btw), it shows in the Security panel all the entries, both classical posix ones and posix acl ones; but if i select each one of them to see file permissions, it will show only the permission of users indicated

Problems printing to Samba printer from W2K (Very Slow)
I am having problems printing to a Samba printer from my Windows 2000 machines. While eventually it does print, it takes an extremely long time. The test page takes over 5 minutes to print. I have tracked it to the Samba spooling process. The delay is in Windows sending the information to the Samba spool. If I look in the Samba spool directory during the print process, the file size increases very

multiple rsyncd daemons: init script
Hi all, I want to run 2 rsync daemons on my system. Each has its own configuration file, and they are listening on a specific port. These 2 daemons are running perfectly but getting them started by 2 init scripts is a bit more difficult. The problem is that when stopping rsync you check the pid of rsync, which results in both pids of the daemons. Off course i want the script to be very

tc doesn''t shape correct
Hi All, I''m configuring my natting-firewall to do some tc shaping. Some traffic has to be shaped on 30mbit, some on 10mbit all the others are unlimited. The configuring and filtering works correctly. The traffic that is shaped at 30mbit is correct, but the traffic that is shapped at 10mbit only gets to 100KB/sec. It is on a device configured with bonding (both in and out interface).

Unexplained reboots in DRBD82 + OCFS2 setup
We're trying to setup a dual-primary DRBD environment, with a shared disk with either OCFS2 or GFS. The environment is a Centos 5.3 with DRBD82 (but also tried with DRBD83 from testing) . Setting up a single primary disk and running bonnie++ on it works. Setting up a dual-primary disk, only mounting it on one node (ext3) and running bonnie++ works When setting up ocfs2 on the /dev/drbd0
