Dear all,
it's a long time now since I started to translate "an introduction to
R" in french and the document was sleeping in a quite hidden place on
the web. These times I had an increasing demand from users around the
(french speaking) world who were asking me what was going on.
The translation is about half the way, but considering

Request: Documentation of formulae
In working through material on p.272 of MASS (4th ed.), I came
across the following model formula:
pet1.lm <- lm(Y ~ No/EP - 1, Petrol)
I was at a loss to understand the use of "/" until I looked in
"An Introduction [!] to R," where I found the explanation.
My request is that more complete material on model formulae be

Introduction text in R help files
Hi everyone,
is there a way to include introduction text in the PDF that documents
all methods? I want to avoid to write a proper vignette, but would
much rather like to include some introduction text in my reference
PDF.
Thanks
Ulrich

Comparing kendall's tau values?
I have 3 variables relating to the successful introductions of species
to 95 different areas: introduction frequency; number of successes pre
1906; number of successes post 1906
The data are not normal, nor homo-skedatic, so I am using non-parametric
statistics.
I have calculated Kendall's tau between both introduction & successes
pre 1906 (tau=0.3903) and introduction & successes

Introduction to R (in french)
Hi all,
I recently put a new version of my french introduction to R online. It
is more specifically targeted at social sciences students and
researchers, but could be interesting for beginners who are not
really familiar with statistics and coding.
The document is available (in french) in PDF, as well as the Sweave
source code, from the following page :

Package docs for CRAN
CRAN et al.,
I would like to add an extented introduction or other arbitrary
sections to my package lmomco.
I have been shipping inst/doc/Introduction.Rd. I would like to have
this content inserted to the front of the PDF build for the CRAN. The
R-exts.pdf seems to be a little silent on this subject? For my
purposes, I have been doing this

[LLVMdev] LLVM teaching materials
Hi everyone
I am teaching a lecture on hardware/software codesign which, though not a dedicated compiler course, covers quite a bit of compiler related contents (general introduction, intermediate code, code generation).
I'm currently considering replacing and/or extending this compiler related lecture parts with an introduction to LLVM as an example for a modern compiler framework, which we

Introduction to R (S) [in German]
Couse notes for a short introduction to the S language have been posted as
<http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/R/doc/contrib/s.pdf;I>
This is material for a 4-5 days course, assuming some background in
statistics (German style).
As a matter of fact it is a Trojan horse, claiming it is teaching the
S language, but under the shelf it is trying to convey some ideas
about statistics.

An Introduction to R - LaTeX Code
Hi,
I am interested in seeing the LaTeX version of R manuals (such as An
Introduction to R), and I found from CRAN that:
"The texinfo sources of the latest version of these documents are
contained
in every R source distribution (in the subdirectory doc/manual of the
extracted archive). "
However when I went into that directory I only found the pdf and html
version. Are there any
