ALLOCATE in a FORTRAN subroutine
> You can call (some) R functionality from C When I read about 'R api' I thought that we could call all the functionality of R. I think that in the windows world, this is called OLE automation. From a pure programmer point of view, it is very convenient and my customer is creating a team of programmers. But, if only 'some' functionalities can be called, it's not so useful.

ALLOCATE in a FORTRAN subroutine
Hi Martyn, Many thanks for your answer. If I make it short : we can, once we know how to do it, 'drive' R from within FORTRAN for example to do a Myarray = seq(0, mydimension) in R once we have compute mydimension in FORTRAN. Is that correct ? If yes : it's too 'complicated' for the time I am hired (I mean I have been hired to do FORTRAN code not to learn R !). Second

merging variable and character
Hi R lovers! I'd like to know the trick to get a plot with a title associating variable and text I'd like to plot something like for (i in 1:10) plot(x[,i],ylab="Serie" & i) to get Serie 1 Serie 2 so on and so forth... of course it doesn't work. If somebody could give me an idea, it would be very nice thank you very much and long life to R Vincent

R DDD fortran
Is there an easy way to compile a packages's fortran so that it has the information for ddd or gdb to follow the lines of the code? I seem to remember seeing something about this, but I cannot find it in Writing R Extensions. (I see about Valgrind, debugging a segfault, and some other tricks, but what I really want is to follow the fortran logic.) Thanks for any pointers, Paul

Missing Value And cor() function
Hi r lovers! I 'd like to apply the cor() function to a matrix which have some missing values As a matter of fact and quite logically indeed it doesn't work Is there a trick to replace the missing value by the mean of each variable or by any other relevant figures ? Or should I apply a special derivate of the cor() function, (I don't have any idea if it exists and have some trouble to

How to apply a function to all combinations of the values of 2 or more variables?
Hi, All Forgive me if this is a stupid newbie question. I'm having no luck googling an answer to this, probably because I don't know the right R terminology to frame my question. I want to know how to run an R function on each combination of the values of 2 or more variables. In SAS-speak this is multiple "BY variables" or "CLASS variables". In R I've figured

Splitting data into test and train (80:20) kepping attributes similar
Hi, I am trying to do some predictive modeling around attrition and want to split the dataset into test and train (80:20) and keep the ratio of attritees:non attrites same. In my dataset the attrition indicator is coded as 0(for non-attritees) and 1 (for attritees) and I want to keep the ratio of 0's to 1 similar. I apologize for this trivial question but this is my second week with R.

Many "Error: Corrupted index cache file /XXX/dovecot.index.cache: invalid record size"
Hi all, I just joigned this list, so I'm sorry if this problem has already been reported. I'm running Dovecot 2.0.13 on many servers, one for POP/IMAP access, others for LDA, others for authentification only, etc. All servers are accessing a shared file system, based on MooseFS (www.moosefs.org). The FS is mounted using FUSE. All my Dovecot servers have this configuration :

ALLOCATE in a FORTRAN subroutine
Hi, I am a FORTRAN developer and I am 'translating' R functions in FORTRAN subroutines. I am 'new' to R. It's my first question in this mailing-list and English is not my natural language. Very often, an R function gives an 'array' as result and you don't have to bother with the dimension of the array : R creates automatically an array with the good length.

Pb on data transmission size
Hi, i've got a problem concerning Samba data transmission size. I turn a Samba version 3.0.20b on AIX 5.3.0.3 server; when i make a 3Go file copy on a Samba client, the data transfert stops with 1073741312 bits size. After many retries, it's always the same problem... Is there a data transfert limitation on Samba configuration? Extract of my smb.conf: # Samba config file created

PAM, Active Directory, all users mapped to uid=0
I'm having a problem with authentication using PAM, connected on the back end to Active Directory. PAM authentication itself works fine. We can log in to the machine using AD credentials without any problems. Each user is automatically mapped to uid's in the 10000+ range. However, for some reason when the user logs in via dovecot, the user's uid and gid are showing up as 0. For
