problem with interaction in lmer even after creating an "interaction variable"

Dear all,
I have a problem with interactions in lmer. I have 2 factors (garden and
gebiet) which interact, plus one other variable (home), dataframe arr. When
I put:
/
lmer (biomass ~ home + garden:gebiet + ( 1|Block), data = arr)/
it writes:
/Error in lme4::lFormula(formula = biomass ~ home + garden:gebiet + (1 | :
rank of X = 28 < ncol(X) = 30/
In the lmer help I found

Keyboard Interactive Attack?

I read an article today about keyboard interactive auth allowing bruteforcing.
I'm afraid I have minimal understanding of what keyboard-interactive really does. What does it do, and should I have my clients set it to off in sshd_config?

Contrasts with an interaction. How does one specify the dummy variables for the interaction

Forgive my resending this post. To data I have received only one response (thank you Bert Gunter), and I still do not have an answer to my question.

I am trying to understand how to create contrasts for a model that contatains an interaction. I can get contrasts to work for a model without interaction, but not after adding the

python-interactive for CentOS/EL 4

Hi all,
Could anyone point me in the right direction for a package that
provides the 'interactive' module for Python? I need to do some SSH
stuff in Python so I grabbed python-paramiko from RPMForge (as always,
thanks Dag & co.). Paramiko appears to be dependent on python-crypto
but the RPM doesn't require it..

Interactions in GAM

Hello R users,
I am working with the GAM to inspect the effect of some factors (year, area) and continuous variables (length, depth, latitude and longitude) on the intensity and prevalence of the common parasite Anisakis. I would like introduce interaction in my models, both "continuous variables-continuous variables" and "continuous variables-factor". I have read some

What would cause keyboard-interactive packet connection close

Hi,
I've got a remote system that was down and came back up. I'm
trying to get into the system, but when I do I get timed out. I
forced it to a keyboard interactive to speed things up:
ssh -o PreferredAuthentications=keyboard-interactive -vvv tuc at 10.2.0.2
but I get :
debug1: waiting for SSH2_MSG_NEWKEYS
debug1: newkeys: mode 0
debug1: SSH2_MSG_NEWKEYS received

Differentiating between http downloads and interactive traffic

Hi,
I''ve been wondering if anyone has thought of a way to differentiate
between an established http download and interactive http traffic? I
would like to give interactive http traffic priority over someone
downloading large files.
Has anyone any ideas how to detect packets that are part of a download
like this?
Thanks.

Change properties of line summary in interaction.plot

Is it possible to change the color/thickness of the summary line in an
interaction.plot without changing the other individual data lines? I would
like to make the line from the summary function (mean) the color red and
thicker than the surrounding black lines. How can I do that?
Here is a link to interaction.plot:

Interaction Terms versus Interaction Effects in logistic regression

I would like to know more about the output from the terms option in
predict(), especially for a glm. And especially when there is an
interaction effect being considered.
Here's why I ask. These articles were recently brought to my
attention. They claim that just about everybody who has reported an
interaction coefficient in a logit or probit glm has interpreted it
incorrectly.

PAM, keyboard interactive, pam-1@ssh.com, interoperability

I have a simple goal: to use PAM to do my TIS authsrv authentications.
I have Mark Roth's pam_authsrv module -- it works fine.
+ I can configure openssh for PAM, and it works fine (negotiating ssh2
keyboard interactive auth method).
+ I can configure ssh.com-3.0.1 for PAM, and it also works fine
(negotiating ssh2 pam-1 at ssh.com auth method).
Unfortunately, the openssh client

Setting up 3D tensor product interactions in mgcv

Hi,
I am trying to fit a smoothing model where there are three dimensions
over which I can smooth (x,y,z). I expect interactions between some,
or all, of these terms, and so I have set up my model as
mdl <- gam(PA ~ s(x) + s(y) + s(z) + te(x,y) + te(x,z) + te(y,z) +
te(x,y,z),...)
I have recently read about the ti(), "tensor product interaction
smoother", which takes care of these

Plot interaction in multilevel model

I am trying to plot an interaction in a multilevel model. Here is some
sample data. In the following example, it is longitudinal (i.e., repeated
measures), so the outcome, score (at each of the three time points), is
nested within the individual. I am interested in the interaction between
gender and happiness predicting score.

Stepwise regression scope: all interacting terms (.^2)

Dear Gurus,
Thank you in advance for your assistance. I'm trying to understand scope better when performing stepwise regression using "step." I have a model with a binary response variable and 10 predictor variables. When I perform stepwise regression I define scope=.^2 to allow interactions between all terms. But I am missing something. When I perform stepwise regression (both

Multifactor authentication troubles

I'm writing a PAM module to do authentication through Signal (as in Open

(Public key AND Signal) or (Password AND Signal)
for authentication. This suggests setting AuthenticationMethods to

However, when PAM is enabled "password" means "show password

OpenSSH_4.6p1 - Not taking authmethod_Lookup parameter- keyboard-interactive

I have the below version of openssh and openssl on solaris 9 machine

OpenSSH_4.3p2, OpenSSL 0.9.8a
My concern is there if i initiate a connection to wcars9bd

lm() and interactions in model formula for x passed as matrix

Suppose I have x variables x1, x2, x3 (however in general I don't know
how many x variables there are). I can do
X<-cbind(x1,x2,x3)
lm(y ~ X)
This fits the no-interaction model with b0, b1, b2, b3.
How can I get lm() to fit the model that includes interactions when I
pass X to lm()? For my example,
lm(y~x1*x2*x3)
I am looking for something along the lines of
lm(y~X ...)
where ... is some

STI and HABTM

Hey gang,
How does STI work with HABTM?
For instance...let''s say I have the following models
-----
Category < ActiveRecord::Base
Item < ActiveRecord::Base
Product < Item
Deal < Item
-----
Each product or deal can have categories. Would I then setup Item with
has_and_belongs_to_many :categories, then create a table categories_items
??? Is there a better way to do it?

Interactive map graphics.

...ch?v=iSXNfZESR5I
and there is a section where Hadley Wickham showed demonstrated a county map
of the US that was interactive. This is exactly what I would like. I have
downloaded ggplot2 but still failed to find out how to even read in and plot
something like a US map let alone add the kind of interactivity that was
shown in this demo. Anyone else succeed at interacting with a plot of the US
like this?
Thank you.

How to use the function "glht" of multcomp package to test interaction?

It's been a few weeks I'm racking my brains on how to use the function glht
the package multcomp to test interactions. Unfortunately, the creator of the
package forgot to put a sample in pdf package how to do it. I have looked in
several places, but found nothing. If someone for the love of God can help
me I'll be extremely grateful. The model is glm.

Parameterisation of interaction terms in lm

Hello,
I have a 2 factor linear model, in which the only terms I am interested
in estimating and
testing are the interaction terms. I want to control for the main
effects but have no interest
in estimating or testing them. However, I would like an estimate of the
interaction effects
for every level of the interactions, whereas what I get is one fewer
estimate than this, with the
first level
