updating via CRAN and http
...p authentification (username
and passwd) for every request it sends to a server outside our intranet.
Therefore all the nice tools for automatic updating (cran, cpan ...) don't
for me (I've tried).
I understand that the non-paranoid rest of the world can't be bothered, but
is there any intenstion to include such authentification into the update
procedures of R? I think for ftp it's kind of tricky, but at least for http
the authentification seems to be straight forward.
kind regards,

problem on exceptional quit
Dear Johnny,
Yes, I have tried much larger numbers than 60 and 3 for the above two parameters respectively. And I am sure it is using ?protocol 2? because it?s uncommented in sshd_config.
Is there a way to catch what?s happing before quit? I couldn?t see anything except for the line ?write failed, broken pipe?.
Thanks.

Is Samba made for trash ?!?
Hi Sambafriends !
I have done a migration from Novell to a Samba-PDC in a medium enterprise
with nearly 50 workstations eight weeks ago.
When i look at the /var/log/warn listing i still see some errors, and i
like to ask you, if this messages are "normal" ?

Resources for utilizing multiple processors
Hello,
I know of some various methods out there to utilize multiple processors but
am not sure what the best solution would be. First some things to note:
I'm running dependent simulations, so direct parallel coding is out
(multicore, doSnow, etc).
I'm on Windows, and don't know C. I don't plan on learning C or any of the
*nix languages.
My main concern deals with Multiple
