Dom0 running on Centos
Hello all, Trying to get a Centos 5.5 installing running.  Using kernel-xen.x86_64  2.6.18-194.8.1.el5 Not able to get networking working on Dom0.  Not sure if it is intensional for dom0 not to have connectivity or if something is broken. After centos 5.5 is installed it can''t even connect to the centos repos to check for updates. The only way to fix this is /etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge stop Would really appreciate any input. Trying to get this running corr...

R can't find gcc library that other programs can.
...d not give it much more thought, as it appeard to build ok. More recently someone noticed a test failure. It would appear a number of modules are not building (Matrix, class, mgcv, nnet, rpart, spatial, and survival) are all failing to build. But the R build process does not terminate. Is that intensional? The way the build is failing is very odd indeed. ld.so.1: R: fatal: libgcc_s.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory This is despite the location of libgcc_s.so is specified in LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and numerous other parts in Sage link to this library ok. There's some information abou...

Reading R Code aloud
Dearfolks-- I have been told by an experienced R programmer and teacher whom I trust that it is easier to understand R code if you read it aloud, as the language that it is. However, she was clear that reading it aloud was not simply reading the marks on the screen: you read A.df[5,] as "the fifth row of A.df" (or "the fifth row of data frame A"), not as "A dot df left

EXPLINATION: %U and %u functionality change in 2.2??
...ead ran as the user which connected to said printer share. This is a problem with printing daemons in general which only give control of a job to the creating user, and a pain with daemons LPRng where only certain users are allowed to override the username and host variables. Recommendations for busy static web server replacement
Hi all after being a silent reader for some time and not very successful in getting good performance out of our test set-up, I'm finally getting to the list with questions. Right now, we are operating a web server serving out 4MB files for a distributed computing project. Data is requested from all over the world at a rate of about 650k to 800k downloads a day. Each data file is usually

No video display, SuSE kernel-xen-2.6.11.4-21.7
Hi all This is a strange one. On upgraging to SuSE kernel-2.6.11.4-21.7, I have suddenly found that I loose the video on boot up! The video disappears very early in boot, possibly while Xen hypervisor is starting, printing out the physical memory map. If you are patient and wait for the machine to reach run level 5, the X server starts up and you get a picture back. You can then switch back and

Bug#771441: [PATCH tftpd-hpa] tftpd: don't use AI_CANONNAME and AI_ADDRCONFIG to resolve addresses for bind
...r IPv6), and > you don't actually have any, that this should fail early and loudly to > warn you about either misconfiguration, or some other more serious > failure, occurring. If I want to bind to 0.0.0.0 and no interface (but lo which might be good enough for me) is up this might be intensionally. This way I might be able to speed up system boot because I don't have to wait until all interfaces are up before I start the daemon. Of course this doesn't help if I configure tftp to listen on an explicit address, but that's a different problem that's out of scope of my patch....
