Web inteface for uploading?
I was wondering if there is a web interface out there for uploading and downloading from samba shares? I found the SMB2WWW but it at the moment does not support upload nor does it seem very secure. I would like something that requires authentication. Has anyone done this or is it even possible yet? Wayne

[Bridge] Is there anyway to force an ethernet inteface to stay up (ignore carrier detection) in order to keep the bridge up?

The R-Java inteface from Omegahat
We have finally configured the R-Java interface as a `regular' R package. This allows R users to create arbitrary Java objects and call any accessible method. It has a reasonably sophisticated mechanism for handling transferring of arguments from R to Java and vice-versa, and allows Java classes to be implemented via R functions. The package and all the documentation is available from

configure network bridge listing bridged intefaces
Hi all, Having a 4 NIC server, I want to bridge eth2 and eth3, with a bridge named br0. Searching the web I only found about creating a file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-br0, but did not find where to explicitely list what ports will be bridged. Where is it configured? Thank you. -- RMA.

should I shape tun[N] or eth0 ?
...h0 interface, it also leave via eth0 again. I would like to share the available bandwidth evenly with tunnel clients. Would applying the bandwidth rule on eth0 with htb & sfq work for sharing the bandwidth or will bandwidth rules only affect tunnel traffic if I apply it to the actual tun[n] intefaces ? _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list / LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl http://mailman.ds9a.nl/mailman/listinfo/lartc HOWTO: http://lartc.org/

Shaping incoming traffic?
I would like to differentiate incoming traffic streams to guarantee minimum bandwidth to some services. However, as per the Adv-Routing-HOWTO it appears that only outgoing traffic can be shaped. Is this correct or is there a way of shaping incoming traffic? The problem could possibly be overcome if there is a way of routing traffic through a virtual host. Any tips on how to go about that? --

NetworkWorld article on Open Source Telephony
An interesting article for those needing ammunition to sell Asterisk within their organisation or to others: "Is open source IP telephony ready for prime time? Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error

Yes this inteface exists and 10.0.0.0/24 is used on a dedicated physical network interface. But I don't want Samba to listen on it and the interfaces line (see above) does not list it. Netstat confirms Samba does not listen on this interface. So I removed the entry manually: samba-tool dns delete skynet...

CentOS 5 and Broadcom wireless
I've got CentOS 5 installed on my hp pavilion ze 5300 laptop and the network configuration UI says my wireless NIC has been correctly identified and assigned what appears to be the right Broadcom device driver on eth1. However, the inteface doesn't come up. Google doesn't find anything recent about using Linux with Broadcom except for someone's passing remark that Ubuntu 7 beta seems to work with it successfully. Everything else points to using ndiswrappers and the Windows drivers. Am I stuck going that route? Has anyo...

Which is the best signalling for FXS
Hi All, Which is the best signalling to use when connecting an FXS inteface on a TDM400 to a standard telephone. I see that all examples use fxo_ks, but it is my understanding that kewl start is really designed for connections to the CO so that hangup etc. can be detected. So does it make any sense to configure a telephone for fxo_ks? Or should it be configured for fxo_ls?...

Samba / Cups and PDF'S
...ome network setup. The problem is when I send a PDF to the cups server to be printed, it only prints the first page then the cups mgmt interface will say that the job is completed. If it's a very large (+4mb) PDF, it will print the first page, or half of the frst page and then the CUPS mgmt inteface gives an error saying it was aborted. Could this merely be a memory issue? I believe there is only 256 megs in that machine. If i'm asking the wrong people, please let me know and I'll go somewhere else, I've tried searching google, but the only results I find are printing with CUP...

Asterisk and WebIntegration
Hi All, Is there a way that I can include call dialing functionality in a webinterface. I have EyeBeam configured with a SIP user say 8440. Will I be able to design an inteface which agent can choose a number and the Dial without punching in the number in Eyebeam. I tried using the .call file. ie The agent can choose which number to dial from a web interface. Then, a .call file is created with the following informations.
