Key table name malformed
Hi, We are having an issue, trying to install a domain member server. I'm following the samba wiki: - samba 4.6.1 - krb5.conf as recommended on wiki - time synced - kinit works - dns works (DCs in resolv.conf) - setup a basic smb.conf (pasted at the end of this email) - edit nsswitch.conf to include winbind for passwd/group and then finally "net ads join -U administrator -d5" fails

Key table name malformed
Hai Mourik-Jan, This looks all good. Only one thing in the config, you can remove : winbind nss info = rfc2307 Since your alread set ( for 4.6.x) : idmap config INTECH:unix_nss_info = yes Can you check the content of the keytab? klist -ke /etc/krb5.keytab post ( if needed anonymized ) the content you see. run : net ads keytab list -UAdministrator And did you by accident run : net ads join , multiple times on this server? About the realm in caps or not, to...

samba domain vs linux network security
Dear list, I don't know if it is appropriate to ask here, if it is not, please point me to the right lists (suse-linux-e..?) I am using a samba pdc right now, and we want to start using linux for (some) workstations as well. I have exported /home to my subnet, to allow access via nfs. (so you will have your home directory available both under windows and linux) Under windows, you have

xfs filesystem corruption
dear list. I was just wondering, is there anyone here using sles9 with xfs in an lvm? We had severe filesystem corruption on a server today, and only two things were changed: I updated via yast online update (lot's of updates, strange enough, including an lvm update) and I had to replace a drive in my hardware 6 disk raid array. (IBM 5i, raid 5) Now I was wondering what caused the

SIP Options Reply Ignored
Hi I have FC6 system in the office running SVN-trunk-r63567 It is behind a NAT router which I have configured to do port forwarding etc. Asterisk connects and registers correctly to my SIP service (Sipgate.co.uk) and I can make and receive calls from any SIP phone on the office LAN. The problem comes when I try to use a SIP phone at home (also behind a NAT router). The phone registers correctly

Test Number in the UK?
In recent times I have seen a few posts which describe how to use ztmonitor to set the rxgain and txgain parameters on an FXO channel. The starting point is to call a '102 milliwatt test number' Does anybody know of such a facility in the UK? Ian -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

There is a bug there. I can give you RPMs for SuSE 8.2 > that do work. > You can download patched

applying permissions to subdirectories using setgid doesn't do th e trick... :(
Dear list. I have a problem that I cannot seem to get rid of. I have a directory/share (on linux) called "smb" containing four subdirectories. This directory will be 'exported' using samba.I would like to have different permissions on the different subdirectories. This works, except for this one directory (called temp) that I want to be read/write for everybody. Using force

providing webdav remote access to samba
hello all. I know this is a little bit of topic, but I guess this will interest of you anyway, and I didn't know where else to ask... So here it is: Does anyone here provide a webdav remote access interface to the network? And if yes: what software are you using for it? I'm currently doing this on my network using davenport. (http://davenport.sourceforge.net/) Even though this works

vscan exclude file type example
I am looking for a quick way to disable scanning of files based on file extention, Suppose I want *.pst NOT to be scanned. What would I have to enter behind 'exclude file types =' in vscan-clamav.conf (in the doc it says: wildcards not allowed, so I guess *.pst will not do the trick) Can't find examples online.. Thanks!

how to mount another persons home dir when using [homes]
Dear list. Using samba 3.0.2, exporting home directories to drives using [homes]. Suppose this scenario: an employee falls ill. Someone else has to take over this persons work. I want to give this NEW person access to the ill person's home directory. Homedirectories shares are created at logon time. Meaning that the share for the ill person currently does NOT exist (as he or she is at home,

a request for a doc to get acl's working....
dear people, I've searched for hours, and I really can't seem to find *THE* solution. Is there a document somewhere that outlines how to get acl editing to work from windows? getfacl and setfacl all work, I can change whatever I want from the command line when I'm root. Using xfs, samba3.0.11 with ldap, and in my ldap is administrator. (because I thought

best, safest and easiest way to provide remote access to files on linux machine
dear list. this question is rather related to samba, although not exclusively. I consider it related enough to ask here, please apologise if you don't. we are in the process of setting up a samba domain at my company. a goal is to replace our current nt4 servers. another goal is to provide an easy way to access the documents on the lan (and peoples home directories) from 'outside'

password ldap clarification requested...
Dear list, I would like to know if the following statements are true, just to make sure that my understanding of passwords/ldap stuff is correct... Vampireing passwords from an nt4 pdc only populates the ldap server with windows passwords, and not the (linux) userPassword. Authenticating linux logons against this ldap server is therefore only possible using winbind. 'Normal' ldap
