This is very angry, because now I cant use ramdrive.sys for XP( which knows that driver well), to make a ramboot with this attempt. Then I rembered INT19, which can be enabled in Bios on my motherboard Asus P4C800-E Deluxe. INT 19 does a reboot without destroying the content of ram. ...oach is to lay down syslinux/memdisk onto the hard drive utility partition (A special Dell partition type). Dell systems have a CMOS bit to force boot the Utility partition even if there is a CDROM disk present. We set this bit and boot. When the memdisk image boots, we have the A: disk image do an int19 to soft boot the system, which will load the CDROM. Since it was a soft boot, memdisk has still hooked int13 for both A: and B:. Windows installer loads and uses int13 to read floppy and discovers our drivers, loading them into memory. This approach would probably work on non-Dell systems as well...

Hi all, Do any of you have any ideas for getting a DOS floppy to reboot to the hard drive (which may contain Windows 98 or XP or Linux or Novell etc etc)? I want to use syslinux, but it does not support the localboot option like pxelinux and isolinux do. Basically, I want to boot DOS from a floppy, run some DOS stuff, then reboot to the hard drive while leaving the floppy disk in the drive.
