Correct xen domains path
Hi all, Two questions 1. According to http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/InstallingCentOSDomU?highlight=%28xen%29 it would be /srv/xen or even /var/lib/xen/images. ?What is the correct absolute path to put into the xen domains files? 2. Moreover, if you want the domU(s) boot together dom0, you should put the domains files (images) into /etc/xen/auto. ?A simple symlink will be enough i...

pygrub cannot find kernel
I just installed a CentOs 5 domU system on a CentOS 5 dom0 system following the instructions detailed here: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/InstallingCentOSDomU. The installation went through successfully. After installation, however, pygrub can't find a kernel. This is the xen cfg file I'm using: bootloader="/usr/bin/pygrub" name = "testsrv" memory = "2048" disk = [ 'tap:aio:/root/testsrv.img,xvda,w', ] vi...

Xen Install
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/InstallingCentOSDomU In reading that How To, will using the GUI Configuration Tools create all the files need to run a "DomU". Will I have manual edit any configuration files? Next question is the machine has 256MBs of ram and Dom0 uses about 225MBs of it. Is that a bit much? VmWare Server does not use that...

LVM + kickstart -> dom0 && domUs
centos-virt, I'm trying to create/install domU guests all in "one" step, following Daniel's wiki page (I've found these pages really helpful, BTW): http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/InstallingCentOSDomU I have a few questions about this process: (1) How would it be modified (w/respect to defining the disk in the domain configuration file) to use a disk layout where dom0 has N logical volumes, one for each of N domU guests? (2) Using this method (where dom0 has an LV for each domU disk), I would a...

Addition to Xen documentation
Hi guys, At this page: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/InstallingCentOSDomU?highlight=%28xen%29 it says: "You will need an domU installation initrd image and kernel. Both can be downloaded from: http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/i386/images/xen/" I'd like to suggest adding the following: "or http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/x86_64/images/xen/&...

xen CentOS 5.2 domU install error: "Error mounting device xvda1 as /boot"
...At the end it complains "error mounting /boot". My efforts googling around the net to dig up a solution have come up empty, although I've seen similar issues reported. Details below. Any suggests would be much appreciated. I've read this: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/InstallingCentOSDomU but have not yet tried it. However, I would expect the same result, since it describes a simple variation of a normal Anaconda install. Details: * Centos 5.2 installation command, installing Centos 5.2 as the guest OS using nfs mounted Centos 5.2 iso dvd image: virt-install --paravirt -nam...

XEN and PCIPassthru
I have an old windows NT machine, that I would like to virtualize under CentOS and xen. The problem is, that the machine has an old PCI card that is used for some sensor control. I tried to google the topic, but there isn't any useful tutorial, how to do this under CentOS. What I found out is, that I need a machine that supports the Intel VT-d technology and at least XEN 3.3. Does someone on

Requirements for a PVM enabled distro
...ked before. I’ve done quite a bit of searching and can’t find an answer) I am working on a heavily modified version of CentOS with a user-land that mostly matches 5.4 and a kernel based on 6.2. I''ve found tutorials on how to create a CentOS PVM (such as http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/InstallingCentOSDomU) but I can''t seem to make it work for my particular OS. Is there a place where I can find all the requirements and limitations for a linux guest PVM so I can make the necessary modifications? Thanks. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists...

virt-manager crashes Host during installation of guest
Hi! I have the following problem: I have a server (CentOS 5.3 x86_64) on which I want to install a virtual Xen-machine (CentOS 5.3 x86_64), I ssh from my workstation (Centos 5.3 x86_64 .... do you see the pattern ;) ) to that server and start the virt-manager. I create a new Guest (Paravirtualiuzed) and point it to the server with the installation files (CentOS 5.3, but I already said that). The

Problems installing guest domains
Hi, I am trying out Xen for the first time and I am having a few problems with getting it working. The computer is a quad core Intel Xeon with VT enabled, 8gb of RAM and 2 x 15,000rpm SAS drives in RAID1. I have installed CentOS 5 64bit and installed Xen 3.3.0 via yum. I have successfully booted in to dom0. Here is my grub.conf on dom0: > # grub.conf generated by anaconda > # > #
