Which Linux OS on Athlon amd64, to comfortably run R?
...t, even if I have to re-learn a
lot of things. But this is not a problem, I will improve my knowledge
with time.
My main problem now, is that I installed Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon on the
new one amd64.
To install R on it i followed the directions found here

but unfortunately it did not work.
After reading some posts on the R-SIG-debian list, such as

I immediately realize that an amd64 is not the right processor to make
life easy.
Therefore I would like to know from you, how can...

again on ubuntu 7.10 and amd64
...improve my knowledge with time.
My main problem now is that I bought myself a new computer (described at
the end of this e-mail) and I was offered an amd64 on which I installed
ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon.

Problems with installing the rgl package on Linux
Dear All,
I am trying to install the rgl package on R 2.6.1 running on Fedora 8
(Linux), but I am experiencing the following problems:

configure: error: X11 not found but required, configure aborted.
ERROR: configuration failed for package 'rgl'
** Removing '/usr/lib/R/library/rgl'
-----------------------------------------
Any ideas?
