Hard Drive size not correctly being Detected on Dell 8100
Hello,
I didn't recieve a response on freebsd-mobile, so I'm trying here.
I'm trying to install FreeBSD 4.7-RELEASE or 5.0-RELEASE onto my Dell
Inspirion 8100. I'mjust doing a Standard installation and when FDisk loads I
get:
Disk name: ad0
DISK Geometry: 88 cyls/255 heads/63 sectors = 1413720 sectors (690MB)
So I go and manually change the drive geometry with the G option and it
shows the windows 2000 NTFS partition as 692Mb instead of 9.76Gb...

grub in the mbr
hi,
i ve grub in the mbr of my usb stick and now i am not longer able to use
the syslinux bootmanager. i tried to delete grub from mbr with:
dd if=/dev/null of=/dev/sda bs=512 count=1
but nothing changed grub is still in the mbr hope somebody can help me

Sim Tower crashing Under Latest dev vers
PC: Dell Inspirion 1300 w/ 1.6GHZ Intel and 512MB ram configuration
OS: Lucid Lynx Xubuntu Beta 2 fully Updated
like listed Installer fails to exit after install however when ran, "winevdm.exe" crashes and this is seen in terminal

R on netbooks et al?
Dear useRs,
With the rise of netbooks and 'lifestyle laptops" I am tempted to get one of these to mainly run R on it. Processor power and hard disk space seem to be ok. What I wonder is the handling and feel with respect to R.
Has anyone here installed or is running R on one of these, and if so, what is your experience? Would it be more of a nice looking gadget than a feasable platform
