compaq r3000 triggering the fuse when power is reconnected
All, I have a fairly old Compaq R3000h which is overdue for new batteries. Before I go and splash out a few hundred francs, I'd just need a quick sanity check - when I disconnect the power (UPS under load), it cuts out pretty much right away, so the batteries are flat (even though the charge indicator says full). When I reconnect the power, the surge triggers a 16A mains fuse. This sounds

I've > noticed a difference in my bill since I started doing this. > ==> well yes. of course there will be power consumption from mains. my view is there is less electronic wear and tear when powered up 24/7 and due to inrush power surge on power up, less chance of some component going bad. years back when i did computer systems work, i had a couple client calls for a system not powering up at start of morning hours. i used light bulb example to explain why and that they would naturally see an increase in utilities bil...

Advice on small office UPS
Hello Folks, I have a couple of questions - one about a basic UPS choice I am to make for a small UK office environment and the second about NUT Windows support. For the UPS, I have 2 or 3 servers, a phone system and a switch i.e. a basic : - Dell R410 1U (2x IEC) - Dell SC1425 1U (1x IEC) - Mitel 3300 CXi phone system (1x IEC) - Netgear GS748T switch (1x IEC) It would be good to also be able

internal backup power supplies?
With all the recent discussion of SSD''s that lack suitable power-failure cache protection, surely there''s an opportunity for a separate modular solution? I know there used to be (years and years ago) small internal UPS''s that fit in a few 5.25" drive bays. They were designed to power the motherboard and peripherals, with the advantage of simplicity and efficiency
