counting occurances of matching rows in a matrix
...with ftable():
> as.data.frame(ftable(M[,1], M[,2]))
Var1 Var2 Freq
1 1 2 2
2 4 2 0
3 1 3 0
4 4 3 1
This would be exactly what I want without the 0-freq rows. The problem is that ftable() counts the occurances of all possible factor combinations, which is inproper because the real matrix is very long for which I want to count. (I know that I could filter out 0-frequencies afterwards but I would like ftable not to produce 0-frequencies unnecessarily (it would consume too much space)).
I tried table() too, but I couldn't tell it that it should consider ea...

Cross Tables with odfTable in odfweave
...hat are
standalone objects in the document that I can then convert to other
formats, copy and paste and do whatever with.
The problem is no matter how I try to get the CrossTable into the
odfTable, i either get an error message saying there is no appropriate
method for odfTable or the table is inproperly formatted.
The closest I get is the improperly formatted table from these commands.
x <- capture.output(CrossTable(data.frame[["var1"]],data.frame["var2"]]))
I should probably mention that I like to put the column percentages
generated by the CrossTable function into th...

So, like a lot of people, I am using --link-dest to do backups. My

with trying to create too many links at some point though and get the

Problem in optim(method="L-BFGS-B") (PR#1717)
Full_Name: Jörg Polzehl
Version: 1.5.1
OS: Windows 2000
Submission from: (NULL) (193.175.148.198)
When calculating MLE's in a variance component model using constrained
optimization, i.e. optim(...,method="L-BFGS-B",...) I observed an inproper
behaviour in cases where
the likelihood function was evalueted at the constraint. Parameters and value of
the
function at the constraint seem to be returned in this case.
I've tried to reproduce the effect in a very simple example:

On the emails we send out, it has inproper author information which can
cause confusion that the sender of the email (i.e. me) is somehow saying
that they are the author of the patch.

(3) Step 7 is OK, which means local smb client can connect to smbd

htb problem
I have a doubt. What''s the correct use of mangle for the next network:
eth0: 200.39.190.249 (public)
eth1: 192.168.101.254 (private)
I make nat with iptables and have the following htb script:
tc qdisc add dev eth1 root handle 1: htb default 30
tc class add dev eth1 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 10mbit burst 15k
tc class add dev eth1 parent 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 15kbit ceil

Problems connecting to Samba through windows
I just started using Linux a couple of weeks ago and have been trying to setup samba.
I have a couple of text books I have been following which have helped me be able to run the
smbclient from Linux to view both the shares on my Linux and xp machine.
The problem is that I can not access the Linux files from my xp machine. I can ping the machine
without a problem and can also view the machine
