"invest" applet in centos 5.1 seems to be inoperative
Hello!
I figured it'd be interesting to see a miniature graph of the Dow Jones
on my panel bar. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to do anything, and
the preferences for it isn't helpful (it already has DJIA).
So, any suggestions on how to get it to work?

keyboard inop as user, works as root
recently installed wine on a slackware 12.2 system. both root and the non-root user account have separate wine filesystems, so there's nothing globally installed. as the non-root user, i ran winetricks and installed a majority of the items in winetricks, and now all programs in wine under the non-root account have no keyboard input. was there something that winetricks installed that can cause

-x option inoperative with "bind" mounts
Hello,
I have this mount defined in /etc/fstab:
/backup/current/usr/local/share/premier /var/www/g5/trunk/Naxos none bind,ro
When I backup /var with rsync using (among other) the -x option (one
filesystem) then the whole contents of
/backup/current/usr/local/share/premier are also backed up as they are
mounted on /var/www/g5/trunk/Naxos.
Is this expected behavior? I thought -x would exclude

ThinLTO and the C API
Our ThinLTO testing was inoperative for a while, and now that it's running
again, we're seeing the linker step reporting "Expected a single module."
Note that our linker is using the C API to read bitcode.
It looks like the ThinLTO writer now emits two modules, but AFAICT most of
the APIs in BitcodeReader.cp...

FXDialogBox and the destroy and close methods
Hi everyone!
I constructed a FXDialogBox instance. When I call the
TXTopWindow?s close() method or the FXWindow?s destroy() method, the
FXMainWindow becomes unavailable for use. It becomes inoperative. What
can I do to solve this problem?
Very thanks,
Waiting for answer.

autoprobe for nVidia 6200 broken
I have the same problem on the install disks and on the Live CD: The
computer locks as soon as the Xserver starts. I end up with a blank screen
(color varies) with a moving mouse cursor. Nothing else. Nothing appears
on the screen. Keyboard and mouse are inoperative. Even Alt-SysRq-R
doesn't work. Only way out is the reset button (or maybe SSH, but I don't
have another machine handy to try that from).
I am expecting you to blame in on "upstream", but you can't blame the
LiveCD on upstream.
With the LiveCD, I can boot OK by usin...

AIX lssrc command error after installed OpenSSH
Hi,
We compiled and successfully installed OpenSSH 3.8.1p1

other daemon - "0513-001 The System Resource

We've installed the following filesets on several AIX

Fwd: Not able to join windows 10 clients to samba 3.6.23 NT4 Style PDC
...u also set 'max protocol = nt1' in the PDC smb.conf ?
If this is a new domain, can I suggest you use an AD domain instead.
Windows isn't supposed to work with an NT4-style domain since Version 7
(this is Microsofts view, not mine) and as such, Microsoft could make
the registry hacks inoperative at any time.
The other concern is that the Samba 3.6 series is now EOL and is only
supported by the distros that still use it.

Registered program foibles
...res the path but
this should usually be in place.
The third method will run afoul of WINE. A different number will be reported.
Only a few programs allow registering more than one number. (Additionally,
changing hard disks or other hardware items will change this number and can
render programs inoperative until re-registered which sometimes might not be
possible :-( ).
The fouth method will probably not work either since multiple process
runs--such as accessing spell checkers or help files--may not work in WINE.
Anybody found work-arounds for any of this?

HOWTO Samba on RH 7.0
...the only
comfortable position I can find)... like create a HOWTO
Samba (-2.0.7-21ssl) on RH7 (w/ xinetd-2.1.8.9pre14).
I have already sent off the request to the HOWTO coordinator
at linuxdoc.org (has anyone noticed that the listed email
address <discuss@linuxdoc.org> for the coordinator is
inop?).
I'm hopeful linuxdoc will write back and say this document
has already been created; that I have just failed to locate
it. If so, wonderful!!
If this HOWTO has not been created, I'd like to enlist the
help of anyone that has some familiarity with Samba-2.0.
Please email me off-list at...

CentOS-6 on Toshiba Toughbook CF-31

MicroSoft (and from Apple for that matter). So, I would like to use
one of these systems to try out CentOS as an alternative OS.
Does anyone here have any experience with running CentOS-6 (RHEL6) on
this computer? Is any of the hardware rendered inoperative or
otherwise unusable?

Grey windows under wine
I seem to be having an issue with font rendering under wine. Whenever I open a window that relies on "standard" Windows layouts (fonts, dropdown boxes, scrollbars, confirmation buttons) I just a grey window (screenshot). Anyone know how to fix this? Am I missing a library?

running sshd under AIX 4.3.3 ?
...s managed to get sshd to run as a subsystem in the System
Resource Controller under AIX 4.3.3 (a la mkssys), then please let me know
how you did it...
I can mkssys and startsrc it, but it dies immediately, leaving a child sshd
running with another PID than startsrc reported, and lssrc reports sshd
inoperative.
Is sshd a process that should stay in foreground, not forking? Or does it
fork every time to service a connection (excuse my ignorance)?
Douglas Manton, I read your post of 2001-03-16 on this (Re: SIGHUP/av[0]
restart failure (AIX)). Any clues? What am I forgetting?
Thanx,

However, in some cases, the system may exhaust memory, crash, or be

The location of the attacking system is obscured because the source

You might as well remove the vfs recycle lines above, they are also in
the share and the line below renders it inoperative, they need to be
on the same line.

You are missing 'store dos attributes = Yes'

Extracting from data.frame
Can someone please explain the following behavior?
df1 and df2 are data.frames. Suppose I want a subset of the rows
(observations) using extraction, say just the first row. What I want to know
is why if df1 has just one column then df1[1,] returns a vector, whereas if
df2 has 2 or more columns then df2[1,] returns a data frame? Why is the
single column case different?
