Samba-LDAP TLS problems with inofficial Debian OpenLDAP 2.2 packages
Dear Torsten, dear samba list reader Three days ago I switched our domain from a NT 4 domaincontroller to Samba-OpenLDAP, controlled by a Debian Sarge system. I installed the following inofficial Debian OpenLDAP 2.2 packages (I know these are not supported, but TLS with OpenSSL is essential to us...): Package: slapd Version: 2.2.20-1.hrz.1 Package: libldap2.2 Version: 2.2.20-1.hrz.1 Package: ldap-utils Version: 2.2.20-1.hrz.1 In order to keep apt from lamenting over missing dependencie...

Restarting / shutting down a xen0 server
Hi all, my main xen test system is a pizza box, simply standard. The kernel of stable debian sarge can shut it down/restart it correctly. My own xen kernel (based on debians inofficial xen kernel) cannot. I do not know much of kernels and hardware yet, so please help me to understand: Is shutting down (as opposed to writing "power down" to the screen) or restarting based on APM or ACPI and I simply have to forget it with xen (until these features are implemented) o...

compile errors with rgl-0.70.570 on FreeBSD
Thank you for your work on rgl. Reading in another thread about your new (inofficial) version of rgl (see below) I tried it with R version 2.5.0 alpha (2007-03-31 r40986) under FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT. Unfortunately I got the following error: ------- #R CMD INSTALL rgl_0.70.570.tar.gz * Installing to library '/usr/local/lib/R/library' * Installing *source* package 'rgl...

bad I/O performance with HP Smart Array RAID
Hi all, I discovered lately that two of my XEN servers suffer from a really bad disk throughput - in domU as well as in dom0. All of them run Debian/Etch, Kernel 2.6.18-6-xen (orig. Debian) with XEN 3.2 (backported). The software versions seem to be ok for most machines: Lenovo A57 with S-ATA and (E8200, VT enabled): up to 90MB/s Shuttle, FB61 based, ATA-Disk (Celeron, no VT): up to

R mailinglist ETH website now with trusted certificate
Some of you, notably I think users of MS Internet Explorer, may be happy to learn that since yesterday, the web server of the R mailing lists https://stat.ethz.ch/ now runs an ``official'' / trusted certificate as opposed to the inofficial one ("Math deparment ETH") that we have had for years instead. In particular, this should make access to the (first but by far not only) mailing list archives more convenient to you, e.g. for this month, for R-help, https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2007-August/thread.html In pa...

Undelete some files?
Hi, my / is located on /dev/hda6 and my "personal storage partition" - the palce where I store my important files - is located on /dev/hda9. I've deleted a couple of files in /dev/hda9/xyz/abc. Exactly I've deleted the whole directory "abc" with mc. Now hda9 is unmounted, of course. Can you give me a recipe about how to recover those files, please! Probably

PHP AGI script
I've got a very nice PHP AGI script but I want to be able to do some database cleanup when the user hangs up the phone. I wish everyone would hang up when they were suposed to, but some people don't. So what does Asterisk send to an AGI file when the line has been disconnected? If I remember reading somewhere correctly, I don't need to use DeadAGI. Instead I'm able to use

Crashday: RakNet.dll failed to initialize
...ashday.exe" failed, status c0000005 My friend also did the wine update, and the game works fine for him (some gfx bugs are fixed for him). We both use ArchLinux, he uses the 32bit version, I got the 64bit version. I tried removing and reinstalling it, tried different patches (1.0 -> 1.1, inofficial 1.1 -> 1.2), tried a different wineprefix and even cleared my .wine folder. Then I thought my executable or the dll may be corrupted and took those from my friend, but it still didn't work. Anyone got an idea what I could do?

Samba 3.0.23 winbind use default domain = yes behaviour
Hello list, I encountered a problem in Samba 3.0.23 regarding the winbind use default domain = yes behaviour. It only works for the users an NOT anymore for the Group. So this make getent group to show NETBIOSDOMAINNAME/group which course mail squid configuration to fail. My squid configuration allowed access based on the AD groups, which are provided by Winbindd.
