CentOS 5.2 on P5N64
...mp;l2=11&l3=653&l4=0&model=2182&modelmenu=1
- Intel Core Quad Q9450
- GeForce GTX 260
- 2x2Gb of 1333 memory
- SATA 500Gb hd and SATA DVD (sata ports 1 and 2).
I booted with the DVD and installed the system fine, but when I try to
boot from the HD, the boot process just stops after inird loading, the
kernel
doesn't even start.
I also tried with the CentOS 5.2 live CD, but it stops claiming that
can not
find the boot disk ???
Has someone similar problems ? What could I try to boot ?
TIA

Could not mount SATA disk as module scsi_hostadapter is not loaded, although present in modules.conf
Hi people,
I installed a via SATA controller in a CentOS release 3.8 (Final) - I
needed additional disk space. After the first boot, the kudzu service,
added the following line to /etc/modules.conf:
alias scsi_hostadapter sata_via
and I rebooted. After reboot in dmesg one can see:
scsi0 : sata_via
scsi1 : sata_via

PXEBoot/Diskless client NFS issue
...rom VM A
When I start the testbed setup:
On the master VM I see log messages with the NIC of the client getting an
address, and successfully loading pxelinux.0, pxelinux.cfg/default, vmlinuz
and initrd.img.
The PXE client on VM B boots up, downloads all the above images, unpacks
and executes the inird image. I see drivers load and normal device
registration for the nics just fine.
After the PXE client VM shows the nic has its link up, this is where things
go wrong...
* The PXE client (that properly got an address in the 250 space to get its
images) sends out a DHCP discover message as would b...

Changing journaling mode on root / loop-aes
...While this is not really an EXT3 question, I am sure people here
might have knowledge to answer it anyway. Currently both Mandrake and
SuSE have an encrypted filesystem implementation using loop backed
devices (which I think even allow the /boot and root partitions to be
encrypted as well using inird images). I am curious if there is intent
on the part of RedHat to support an encryption mechanism?
I ask this as I am talking to someone from the Navy Reserves
about how and if we can use RedHat for a project we are talking about.
He leans toward using SuSE since it has encryption, where I prefer...
