Problem with "--relative" and symlinks
There appears to be a problem with the handling of symlinks within source
directories by the --relative (-R) option.
I am using rsync 2.5.5 on an SGI Origin 200 running IRIX 6.5.11f.
Example: copying the contents of /usr/local/etc/inhouse/db/ from wolf
to fox where /usr/local is a directory on wolf, but /usr/local is a link
to /usr2/local on fox.
Here's the dry-run output (some anonymizing editing has been done):
---
129 (wolf)root> /usr/local/bin/rsync -a -R -v --delete -n -e /usr/local/bin/ssh --rsync-path=/usr/local/bi...

DNS is confusing! (I really need some help understanding!)
...nfused and DNS is the reason.
So, Comcast, 13 public IP's bound to my modem.
Each public IP has a DNS name from comcast (they assign it
automatically) like:
173.13.167.209 --> 173-13-167-209-sfba.hfc.comcastbusiness.net
I created a DNS entry at GoDaddy for 173.13.167.209 that is
'inhouse.theindiecompanyllc.com'
When eth0 is alive, I see that it tells me my name is 173-13-167-209-sfba.hfc.comcastbusiness.net
since I am using a comcast DNS Server.
So if I setup my own internal caching name server for 173.13.167.209
then I have a third name or can I just use the GoDaddy DN...

PJSIP Authrentication by IP fails
I have one single endpoint

[indentify]
endpoint=inhouse

But when I call in from IP X.Z.Y.X, it does not match my peer. It
tries to send the call the "default" context, and the number is not

mangled filenames
...i all,
I'm running Samba 3.0.31_1,1 on FreeBSD 7.0.
I have a problem where some files on the fileserver appear to have
illegal characters in them and so look mangled-up when viewed over Samba.
Here's an example, listing files over Samba:
rococo% ls PR
Archive
Awards
ACD76Y~N <-- Inhouse folder
AOBC8G~A <-- Outhouse folder
Listing the same files directly on the fileserver with ls(1), the
filenames appear ok (-w in ls(1) forces raw printing of non-printable
characters):
baroque% ls -w PR
Archive
Awards
Inhouse
Outhouse
However, doing file(1) on the same directory shows...

SV: I can hear only one way when I use nokia e-60withX-lite
Hello Olivier
Ive been testing the E61 phone for some days now, and we need to have an inhouse asterisk server, connected to our main asterisk server, to get it to work.
That means, that you cant just walk down to your local airport, and use the IP part of the phone on their network.
You have to have a non nat local server, to get it to run.
Other than that, the phone can accept calls bo...

more fcgi problems on apache
I''m having tons of problems with fcgi on apache2. The app didn''t
crash over the weekend when it wasn''t used. I ran it this morning and
it was fine. It''s an inhouse app so it wasn''t used for 3 days over the
weekend. It did however crash today. Does this sound like a bad fcgi
setup or just a very buggy fcgi/Apache combo?

Command line tool to test bandwidth between 2 servers
What's the best way to do this?
Daily, jpg images are added to an inhouse server.
Everynight I want to backup these images to a server offsite, via rsync.
What I want is to determine what to set the bwlimit to.
I also want to estimate how many MB's of images I can move nightly.
Thanks

really large file systems with centos
I've been asked for ideas on building a rather large archival storage
system for inhouse use, on the order of 100-400TB. Probably using CentOS
6. The existing system this would replace is using Solaris 10 and
ZFS, but I want to explore using Linux instead.
We have our own tomcat based archiving software that would run on this
storage server, along with NFS client and server....

Zap call bridge drops randomly
Hello,
We have a call redirection system setup inhouse to send calls from an
incoming line on a T1 to an external dialed out number:
Zap(call comes in) -> Asterisk -> Zap(call dials out)
The call comes in on a Robbed-bit T1 (d4/ami EM Wink) and goes out on a PRI.
We are using Asterisk release 1.0.5
Randomly the calls will drop less than a mi...

What is the considered "best practice" for placing these calls:
1) All clients connect to astmanproxy, and use AMI API Originate command
2) All clients connect directly to the astersik AMI and use the API
Originate command
3) All clients create a db record, some process reads the...

Logon Failure: The target account name is incorrect
Hi,
I'm using FC3 with samba 3.0 trying to be part of a Windows 2000 AD.
When I try to access a samba share it gives me: Logon Failure: The target
account name is incorrect
The Active Directory domain for our small inhouse private network is
MBB.COM, we have our own nameservers that list the samba server in our
company domain, which is epublishers.com. So to reach the samba server we
would go to sambaserver.epublishers.com for example.
Does this look right, or is it possible that the 2 different domain names

I've been porting a library from the STATLIB site from S+ to R.
Unfortunately, I don't have the capability to test the port against the
original application. Is there anyone out there who has S+ inhouse that can
help in this manner?
Also, this is a first time port for a relative newbie, so there are some
things that need to be worked out yet...

resolving urls
Hello all,
I have a clerk connect box running at my library
and it is based on RH9. I am having a little trouble
with resolving URLs. I have two nics in it. eth0
with an Internet connection and and eth1 which is my
inhouse LAN. Now I can ping IPs on the Lan, and On the
net but I can not ping URL's (www.yahoo.com) now I do
have an entry in resolv.conf nameserver
xxx.xxx.xx.xxx and this setup works the same on other
Linux boxes some redhat some CentOS.
If anyone has any suggestions?
Thanks

imaps tls/ssl and stupid clients
We have been using dovecot now as replacement for qpopper for over 2 weeks and
it's working nicely. I have now tried to enable ssl/tls for myself and other
inhouse users which also works fine. But the problem is that I use an
uncertified certificate. Which is not a problem for kmail, as it just pops up
a box asking whether I want to accept the certificate or not. But apparently,
some stupid email programs used by other people just hang up on an
