testInstalledBasic / testInstalledPackages
Hi,
I installed R 3.0.0 on a Windows 2008 Server.
When I submitted the following code in R64,
library(tools)
testInstalledBasic(scope="devel")
I get the following message in the R Console:

domU corrupt after server crash, help needed trying to recover domU LVM
Hi all,
One of our Dell servers has failed badly, and one of the domU's has been
corrupted in the process. It boots up to a point and then gives me a kernel
panic:
Loading dm-zero.ko module
Loading dm-snapshot.ko module
Scanning and configuring dmraid supported devices
Scanning logical volumes
Reading all physical volumes. This may take a while...

Hi,

Strange file permissions
Hi
I have a samba server with tdbsam passwords, and a share, PROJECTS,
which is accessed by various XP home clients, the usenames and passwords
being manually synced to the samba ones (less than 10 users, and only 4
workstations). There is one win2K machine, which is a domain member.
Subdirectories on PROJECTS have g+s set, so only users,
who are members of specific Linux groups, have access to

vfs_acl_xattr doesn't work unless all the inherit and map inherit acl parameters are set to yes, but want to set inherit owner = no
I noticed that vfs_acl_xattr doesn't work unless all the inherit and map
inherit acl parameters are set to yes. Which is fine but if I turn off
inherit owner it completely breaks inheritance and security.NTACL never
gets set for the file/directory that's created by the user. I want the uid
of the user who's connected to be written and not the owner of the parent
directory. Is there

Samba shares freezing
All,
Looking for some help here. Not finding anything on the net that
looks the same as what I'm seeing. Running Solaris 10 Sparc, on a
Sunfire 5220, 16Gb of RAM. Samba version 3.4.5 and using ZFS file
systems with user quotas.
All cifs clients shares to this server freeze after about 10 to 15
minutes of connectivity. Only fix is to restart samba. I'm not getting
any errors

Inheritance of ACLs with Samba
Hello dear list members
I am not an experienced user of Samba, so I can be committing some basic
mistake, but it seems to me that there is something wrong with the way
Samba propagates ACLs. I tried versions 3.0.32 and 3.2.4 and the result
is the same. This happens with "map acl inherit = yes" on smb.conf.
I have a directory (dir) with the following ACLs:
# file: dir
USER Admin

"inherit acls" only works with "inherit permissions"
We are running a fileserver (Samba version 3.0.10-1.4E.9) on CentOS 4.4.
No AD, clients are Windows XP and OS X.
Linux acl's are used for access to directories and files. Each top-level
folder belongs to a primary group with mode 2770. The acl's restrict access
to lower level directories. We need to pass the acl's down the directory
tree or else users may have unexpected access to

Fwd: Re: Fwd: Extended acls with AD - problem with default/herited permissions
Hello Dale,
Set inherit acls = yes locally to my share groups, and remove map acl
inherit = yes from global parameters of smb.conf does not solve my issue.
I still have acl "Domain Users" added to new folders/files.
As i write in my previous email, the only way i found to disable acl
"Domain Users" to be added was with :
inherit owner = yes
With some disavantages for users

strange behavior in 'inherits' check for loaded S4 object
Hi,
(sorry for the wall of text; the issue here appears to be rather complicated)
I'm seeing a somewhat strange case where checking whether an S4 object
inherits from a parent class defined from another package with
'inherits' fails if that object is materialized through a call to
'load'. That's a mouthful, so I've put together a relatively small
reproducible example

A where() functions that does what exists() does but return the environment when object lives?
Hi,
exists("foo", inherits=TRUE) check whether an object named "foo"
exists, and get("foo", inherits=TRUE) retrieves it. I'm looking for a
similar function to exists() that returns the environment where the
object "foo" exists, iff at all. If not found, NULL is returned.
Does that exist?
